The only collector's edition that has ever had me intrigued is the Fallout 3 one, and that's mostly because I love Bobbleheads.

Thanks for the heads up. An actual metal Batarang that could be thrown would've been epic...this is $40 extra m0niez for a dollar store toy.

In Australia all our standard games cost $80-$100 anyway. Collectors go from $120-$160 from what I've seen.

So STOP COMPLAINING!

(Sorry)

My pre-order of Assassin's Creed 2: Black Edition (UK exclusive bitches) frowns upon your shenanigans.
Sorry my friend, it's available in a lot more places. I ordered it as well, and I live in Holland. But yes, the Black Edition is pretty awesome, can't wait for it. Also take a look at the Dragon Age: Origins Collectors Edition, that's one of the most usefull CE's I've ever seen.

Hello All,

I thought that it was the fault of play.com I paid £60($120) for it - I like everything except the batarang - why would it look heavily scratched i'm sure batman would fork out for carbon batarangs or a scratch resistant material - he's friggin batman.

Here are my images

I agree with this article 100% on the batarang!

...So no one has anything to say about the book of backround information and art? Just the shitty battarang?
That was the cream for this special edition - the photo made it look awesome - the books and stuff are all standard - this caused people to have expectations.

You can get it in Ireland so suck it!
Fine, fine. Great Britain exclusive then.[/quote]
actually, GB is without Ireland or northern Ireland, Uk has northern Ireland, so you should have said Uk and Ireland exclusive.

All I gotta say is..wait, one moment...

*giggle, chuckle, snort...BWAHAHAHAHAHA*

Excuse me for that. I find it a bit sad that people focused more on the batarang and less on the book. Those trying for a refund are wasting their time. I dont even pity them.

Wow, I didn't expect much of it, but with the pricetag you would expect some qualety with the product. This is a collectors edition that only a fanatic would buy if he was clearly informed of the packages true containment.
BTW, I know I guy wich probably could make a real copy. At least better than this one in every way.

I agree I never would have bought this if I was informed of the true representation of the batarang, not the picture provided.

Much like the special edition of SF4 then with the crappy little figurines. It isn't suprising.
The only special edition I've seen that was worth getting were the bioshock and fallout 3 ones.

Regarding non-Worthless Collector's Editions

The Guild Wars Collector's Edition shipped with a pair of headphones I still use, so, CEs aren't completely worthless.

The Two Worlds CE had a D20 supliment for the setting, which is kinda neat if you are in a P&P group.

Dark Messiah had in game items that were stupidly useful. The worthless item was trading cards, though they did have some game information on them that could be slightly useful.

Neverwinter Nights 2's CE had some fairly useful in game content (that got hacked in pretty quickly for everyone else, and then added with a patch.) The Cloth Map and rings were cute, but worthless.

The pewter miniatures that shipped with Morrowind, Doom 3, Quake 4, and Prey were kinda neat, kinda pointless, as were ID's metal cases. But, I guess if Minitures are a hobby for you, they're probably worth the expense.

Anyway, my two cents.

I really can't feel sorry for the idiots who bought this thing.
The game's the important part, right? You can buy a replica batarang online for less than a tenner, probably.
It's this insatiable appetite for 'collectibles' that will lead to the nerd downfall.

Well I bought the collectors edition because I thought it looked genuinely good. The Batarang isn't the thing that really bothers me though. The supposed leatherbound book is paperback. And they've edited the box image so it's a paperback book. Way to go Eidos for lying to us. I only paid an extra £3 above the normal price anyway so I'm not too bothered. The game is brilliant though. Genuinely brilliant.

In Eidos eyes it worked as a cash in. And it worked cause people bought the obvious cash in. So you deserve that piece of plastic.

YOU FOOLS!

May this be a lesson.
I agree in part, but perhaps that photo indicate that maybe Mr T isn't the best person to go to for economic advice, given the huge waste of cash hanging off his neck :D

Really tho, asking $40 more for a dollar store toy on a stick, that's poor form.
