Due to the very exciting releases hitting our screens soon, I've decided to start a countdown to see exactly why we've got lots to look forward to. First up, a look back at the amazing Batman: Arkham Asylum. Thanks for watching!
It's the principle of the thing, really. Or more accurately, about who the Joker is and why he is such an excellent villain. The threat the Joker brings to the table is never a threat of outright brute force. The Joker wouldn't resort to straight-up making himself into some brawny, muscular beast and beating the daylights out of Batman. That's not really who the Joker is. He's much more of a psychological villain, somebody who wears down the mind and sanity of his enemy. And he's much more clever than just juicing himself up with Venom when the Bat finally gets to him. You would think he would be able to come up with a more creative solution than that. He lets his grunts do the dirty work for him while he sits back, schemes up his next plot, and laughs at the chaos that results.SquidGaming said:Thank you for watching! So how come the joker battle is the only part of the game you have a problem with?
Very good point. It's tricky though, I feel like a lot of end boss battles are a bit of a let down. Not that I'm excusing it, but still. The fight was okay, not incredible. Yes, it could have been better but at the same time I wasn't left unsatisfied. Thanks for the feedback! Hope you enjoy your belated birthday present!Toriver said:It's the principle of the thing, really. Or more accurately, about who the Joker is and why he is such an excellent villain. And I also felt that it was all incredibly anti-climactic. Here you are, facing down the Joker once again, after he has pulled off the biggest prison break in Gotham's history and taken over the place, and to beat him, all you do is
Couldn't they come up with something more fitting for such a stealth-based, epic game?pull him to the ground and smack him in the head a few times.
But other than that, as I said, the game was practically perfect in my eyes. I was going to pre-order Arkham City today, but Play-Asia doesn't have the 360 version for my region on pre-order yet... doh. It was going to be my belated birthday present to myself. (I bought the first game as a "birthday present" two years ago.) Hopefully they'll put it up soon, because I want to make sure I have my copy as soon as it comes out!
Haha! Look, I can't help it okay! Thanks for watching the video, I appreciate it.Rawne1980 said:Good watch however I did have one minor issue.
It's people like you that make other countries think all us Brits are tea swilling, cucumber sandwich munching posh folk......... TALK MORE COMMON LASS.
Drink a Newcastle Brown and chomp down on a greasy bacon butty, join the rest of us gutter dwellers that forgot what the Queens English sounds like.
Joking aside, seriously, good video.
Arkham Asylum came out in 2009. Unless GotY is not done at the end of a year, which rather defeats the point of having a GotY award if you're just going to do it whenever. And all the boss fights were weak I thought, although the Joker was the worst, since it felt so out of character.Toriver said:So you wanna debate the climactic showdown with Joker, huh? It's really the one and only part of this game I have a problem with. This game should've been on the top of most people's GotY lists, but then Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 came along and spoiled it. (Full disclosure: I have less than zero desire to play either of those games, ever.)
But this video is nicely done. I like your editing and your voice is really easy to listen to. Good job!
You say that like it's a bad thing.Rawne1980 said:It's people like you that make other countries think all us Brits are tea swilling, cucumber sandwich munching posh folk......... TALK MORE COMMON LASS.
Wait, wait, wait...Arkham Asylum was released in 2009. The other two games were released in 2010. They couldn't have been on the same lists. And Red Dead Redemption was brilliant, in my opinion, but whatever floats one's boat.Toriver said:So you wanna debate the climactic showdown with Joker, huh? I agree with you here. It was bad enough that we had to repeat the same boss fight throughout the game, but to have them tank up the Joker? Inconceivable!Toriver said:It's the principle of the thing, really. Or more accurately, about who the Joker is and why he is such an excellent villain.
