So while I was in Gamestop yesterday, I noticed that Game Informer had information about Batman Arkham 2. Indeed it looks awesome.

The story is that Quincy Sharp has become mayor of Gotham one year after the first game. Mayor Sharp purchases a large amount of Gotham's slums, makes a perimeter around it, and releases all of the city's criminals in it in order to make a new asylum. Manning mercenaries on the walls, and placing Hugo Strange in charge of the newly dubbed Arkham City, Sharp places one rule on all the criminals: don't try to escape.

Two-Face wishes to gain power in the city, and plans to publicly execute Catwoman. Batman, given his past with Catwoman, and itching to get into the city to investigate Hugo Strange's mysterious plans, enters.

With Catwoman in the game, it would make sense if the sequel had co-op. That would be awesome.

What do you think?

I really don't think I'd want to play Co-op Arkham. It would disrupt the flow for me. I was legitimately freaked several times in the first one and I think that was because I was alone.

I agree, Batman: Arkham Asylum was not much of a co-op-y game, so I doubt that Arkham City would change that.

But anyway, WOOO!! Batman: Arkham City, WOO!! I loved the first game, and from what I've read on the GameInformer article it looks fantabulous.

I've seen the article...umm...legimentally *cough* and it does indeed look awesome. But certainly Cat Woman's inclusion points to co-op, or possibly you switch between the characters though out the game.

It's important that a sequel brings something new and interesting to the table, and co-op seems like just one of the many ways to do it. Maybe they could also add Robin or Nightwing. Or maybe one player could play as Superman and make the whole thing rediculously easy.

I don't think co-op would work well, personally. It might be able to, but only if the missions were specifically designed for co-op, which means it couldn't be interjected into the story. Neat idea, but doesn't really fit with how Arkham Asylum's combat system works, really. The whole point is you are a one man army against a city/complex full of crooks, and you are still kicking everybody's ass six ways to Sunday. That was an epic frigging game.

I think Robin would be a more obvious obvious co-op partner than CatWoman. Y'know, what with them being partners and all.

I'm against co-op for several of the reasons already stated. It just isn't that kind of game, and having to use another person to get through certain areas makes Batman seem less like a badass who always finds a way to succeed and more like a guy who goes running for help all the time.

That said, multiplayer would be awesome if it were limited to the challenges. Two people moving strategically and causing distractions to silently take out rooms of thugs, or working together in combat challenges would be epic.

No to Co-op.

I hate playing games with people

Otherwise...can't wait. Bosses better be better and I want to fight The Mad Hater and The Black Mask.

Considering how Warden Sharpe was revealed to be a totally insane complete monster if you collected the Amadeus Arkham logs, he could make for a truly chilling and brilliant final boss.

Yeah I hope there are more villains in this one. I mean, it was all well and good learning about them in the first game but that just kind of made me want to fight them more.

Ra's al Ghul's daughter is in it I believe, which will be interesting as she is a love interest of Batman's isn't she? (Correct me if I am wrong). Also I think that Penguin has been rumoured.
I hope the Riddler makes a more prominent appearance because he's awesome.
Scarecrow should also return because he was bloody freaky. Not that bothered about Bane, Croc or Ivy.

I don't want Co-op it always ruins games that arn't built from the start as a co-op game see and example RE5, it was single player game for about 62% of it's dev then co-op was added.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. Even though he was insane and believed his was Amadeus Arkham, he still was a relatively good person. He was still trying to cure people rather than kill them. I think the final boss will be the one pointed to in the article: Hugo Strange.

Looks to borrow a lot from "Escape from New York". I was a little wary at first, but after reading the article I am excited for it.

P.S. Two-Face! Finally! Now include Mr. Freeze and I am sold!

Just watch Superman/Batman: public enemies, Superman literally get shot in the hart with a kryptonite bullet, but survives, he can even talk, break down metal and walk around.
HE SHOULD BE FUCKING DEAD, sorry but i just Hate Superman, when i saw this post i just had to mention it.

Co-op may work as long as it is not required, like having her as an optional playable character

1: Yes, she actually gave birth to batman's son Damian, the fifth Robin
2: scarecrow got eaten by Croc in the first game.

Croc however, escaped in the end. Ill bet my twinky we'll see him in the sequel.

Ahh, but at the end of the first game, you either see Croc's, Bane's or Scarecrow's hand rise up from the water and grabs hold of a Titan box :)
