i LOVE batman, but as Yahtzee said, he really shouldn't be taken that seriously, because behind the mask and all the 'coolness' of batman. he really is a guy dressed LIKE A BAT. and that... is kinda silly

I think that's to keep up a badassery image of the guy. He is pretty well known as DC's resident badass so maybe they just want to keep it that way? I think most DC heros suffer from it.bdcjacko said:

i have to say it, batman as a character is terrible, not a joke but still terrible
i love batman as a series though because of the villains but i think batman could easily be replaced with other superheroes and it would have the same appeal for me

My friend at work and I came to the conclusion that Batman is actually a deity made flesh of the DC universe, and I'm not talking like Thor or something, but more like Jesus.
Think about it, the man seems to know everything about everyone, can be vaporized by eye beams, and has returned from a trip moving through time. He can't be killed. He's a deity.

No, the character himself is boring. After his parents are killed and he becomes batman, the character growths stops. You always know what batman is going to do. Each time he will find a way to punch out all the bad guys and leave them with the police because he has unshakable morals. He is quiet literally (in the literary sense) a boring one dimensional character.Gabanuka said:

He's their first line of defense in the event of Superman going rogue. One of the most powerful superheroes in history, and Batman is the man they trust to take him down. I think that says it all.

Superpowers seem like an issue to me, especially if it's someone like superman, who's power originate from (and I'm probably getting this wrong, I don't read comics, so feel free to correct me) him being an alien and something about the sun being yellow, (wait, isn't the Green Laterns weakness the colour yellow? The sun's yellow, so how come he can go out in daylight?), or the x-men, who're mutants, it's an easy way to make a hero quick, but it makes heroic qualities seem like something that some people are just born with, rather than something everyone has, and they need to apply themselves to unlock.
Same goes for Villains too, if you're into that sort of thing. I mean, sure, the interstellar alien stargod who devours planets is a good villian, but he's not really bettering himself, is he? The Joker had to work to become the criminal mastermind he is. If he blows up the planet, that's an achievement.

I think he is pretty cool since he can do anything with only his initiative. What I mean is that he is so absolute in his goal to rid Gotham of crime by using only his wit and determination.

Awww man.. that's just lame. DC owns Vertigo which is currently feeding me "Sandman" By Neil Gaiman and "Y: The Last Man" By Brian K. Vaughan. They're absolutely fantastic and the characters are fairly deep.Warty Bliggens said:
