So, the other day I finished Knightfall part 1.

I wanted to get part 2, so I headed into a bookshop, and went over to the graphic novels bit.

I found two of them there. One was part 2, a similar size to the one I'd just read, and it picked up directly where part 1 finished.

Then I saw another, much bigger book, called Knightquest: Volume 2. Now are these connected in any way? Is there a Knightquest: Volume 1? I am so confused.

Knightfall's been rerealeased a few times. Originally it was done as Kinghtfall parts one and two, with knightquest not getting collected. Later it was colected as one book with knightquest now collected as part 2.

If you want the whole thing, you'll need both the one that is the second half of knightfall, and the one that is knightquest, as well as the finale Knightsend.

So after reading Knightfall Part 2, should I pick up Knightquest Volume 2? I can't find Volume 1 anywhere

EDIT: I just found this... http://www.dccomics.com/graphic-novels/batman-knightfall-part-3-knightsend

So IDK which one to get..

I'll try and be clearer. The most recent trade collects all of Knightfall as part 1 of the Knightfall saga though it was first released as two parts. Knightquest is to the best of my knowledge collected in it's entiraty, thought it's labeled as part 2 of the entire Knightfall saga now.

Basically you'd have:

Knightfall part 1
Knightfall part 2
Knightquest
Knightsend

So you're saying I don't really need to buy Knightquest, as I already have most of it?

Sorry, I'm not really knowledgeable with this stuff :|

The way I'm reading it, the Knightquest book you're looking at /is/ all of Knightquest. It's called part two because the entirety of Knightfall (which you'll have in your two smaller books) is part one, and the entirety of Knightsend (which is another book) is part 3. This happens sometimes with comics. They'll initially be printed as monthly comics, and then they get collected into a multi-volume set. When it comes time to re-print it again, instead of printing it in the same number of small volumes, they may condense it into a smaller number of large volumes.

It depends on how much of the total story you want.

Knightfall covers the breaking of Batman and his replacement by Azreal.
Knightquest mostly covers Azreal's adventures as Batman, though some setup for Knightsend is present.
Knightsend covers Bruce's efforts to take back the mantle of Batman.

Nothing from Knightsquest should be in either the Knightfall or Knightsend trades, but its importance is limited if what you're interested in is Bane breaking Batman's back and how he got back into things.

Perhaps some issue numbers:
Knightfall ran in batman 491 - 500 and Detective comics 658 to 666. These were originally collected in to editions (knightfall parts 1 and 2), but now and a complete one (knightfall part 1).
Knightsquest ran in Batman 501 - 509, Detective comics 667 to 675 as well as a few other books (I'm not looking up issue numbers) now collected for the first time as Knightfall part 2
Knightsend ran in batman 510 - 511 and Dectective comcis 677 and 677 as well as other batman family boos (12 issues in all). which has always had its own collection as knightfall part 3.
