Not a hate thread.
I'm stuck in this conundrum where, I want to like Batman, and I want to buy Arkham City...but I really don't like Batman. I like the Joker. I REALLY don't like Batman.
I find everything about him either pretentious, boring or simply annoying (gravel voice).

In anycase, should I buy Arkham City even though I don't like Batman? Or is 'Batman' the only selling point?
I tried asking friends and all I got was "Dude...It's fuckin' Batman". Which didn't help.

You're in luck. If the games have taught me anything, it's that the Batman universe is very malleable towards many types of people. I too don't like Batman himself that much. But I love villains. And in this case, the Batman universe shines. It you like, you can instead see the Arkham series as being all about the Villians, since that's what it is for me.

I'd recommend playing Asylum before City, since Joker has a lot more screen time and is simply brilliant through all of it. But City has 5 times the amount of awesome bad guys Asylum does. Either way, you'll be entertained by how wickedly smart, twisted and cruel they are. Yeah ok, we have to deal with Batman overcoming every one of them eventually, but they usually beat the crap out of him in the process. Some of the scenes (Mad Hatter) are truly glorious.

So yeah, definitely recommend the games, even if you hate Batman himself, since they offer so much more then just the ability to play as him.

Well which Batman are we talking about, the recent movies and games are nothing alike.

But yes there will be plenty of Batman airtime in the game along with alot of other characters, I suggest you hit some walkthrough videos on youtube an see howmuch it bothers you.
