Not a hate thread.
I'm stuck in this conundrum where, I want to like Batman, and I want to buy Arkham City...but I really don't like Batman. I like the Joker. I REALLY don't like Batman.
I find everything about him either pretentious, boring or simply annoying (gravel voice).

In anycase, should I buy Arkham City even though I don't like Batman? Or is 'Batman' the only selling point?
I tried asking friends and all I got was "Dude...It's fuckin' Batman". Which didn't help.

Honestly? I'm not the biggest fan of Batman either.

What makes the Batman franchise so interesting, for me anyway, is the rogue's gallery.

The series has so many interesting villians, you just want to know more about them. Batman is your vehicle for doing this.

Me too, the rest of the bat family is much more exciting.

However, various incarnations of Batman are very different, it depends on what they were going for in this game.

[small]I'd sorta have preferred if it was an Adam West Batman, though I imagine that'd never move off the shelves...can be very difficult to get rid of a bomb, sometimes[/small]

Nananananananana* there, fix'd.

Also, give the game a try before you knock it. There is such a thing as renting games (shocking I know) and trying them before you buy them.
Even if you don't like the character, you may find that you enjoy the gameplay. And then you may find that you love the character.
Besides, like thaluikhain said, there are so many goddamn batmans that you can surely find a goddamn batman that is the right goddamn batman for you.

...You may be Batman but you LOOK like Dare Devil!!!

I would still get the game as the Catwoman extras are great fun and all in all it IS a very entertaining game to play.

Well, The Dark Knight and Killing Joke are basically jokerfests to most people(okay, not a real statistic... but so is your face) so why not the Arkhams? I know the gameplay was great in Asylum and City should more of the same, so I say: Just go enjoy beating up colourful villains with a man in a bat suit.

Well, if you liked Arkham Asylum for the gameplay, that's fine, but in Arkham City, the Joker kinda gets drowned out by a bunch of other villains.

However, it IS an historic piece of Jokerdom, as it's the last time Mark Hamill will voice him.

Well just finished playing a like 4 hours of the game then took a shower and came straight to work wanting to go dive right into the game as soon as I take off. There's no gravely voice. It's not Christian Bale and it's not based in anyway to the movies. If you remember The animated series think of that. However if you don't like the goddamned Batman... Well the game is sporting a healthy dose of villians including plenty of Joker. So I would say go for it.

i prefer the joker too. still gonna buy the game because you get to use gadgets to beat people so hard i think you would be literally beating the shit out of them.
