I see lots of snippets of footage cut from the movie. One of which I hope confirms an extended battle sequence with Doomsday.
Fixed the link it goes to IGN's article.AccursedTheory said:![]()
The hell. Are you on some sort of special DCEU fans list? Did you violate the secret DC-Bro code to show us? Never seen that before.
Actually curious about that.
As for the trailer, well, you know what I think. I'll sit this one out and let you and mduncan50 go at it.
Aren't Dick Tracy novels well regarded? I mean you should have used something more dispariging like Hurt/Comfurt and Angst genre of Fanfics.Silentpony said:See the problem with BvS wasn't that there were too few scenes, or it was too short, or even that it was missing plot details and characterization.
The problem was that it was a Frankenstein-esque shamble of a DC story with no clear focus or reason to exist. It felt less like a comic book movie and more like 300 and Transformers fucked, had a kid and that kid grew up to be a self-righteous Emo Vamp who likes Dick Tracey novels.
So adding even more terribly written scenes isn't gonna help. Its like throwing a big hunk of maple-wood onto a burning corpse because hey, at least the wood smells better burning right?
Well so are Batman and Superman. So it's not inherently bad. Just terrible, terrible, terrible execution.Samtemdo8 said:SNIP
My defence for this movie still stands; Eh I have seen worse:Silentpony said:Well so are Batman and Superman. So it's not inherently bad. Just terrible, terrible, terrible execution.Samtemdo8 said:SNIP
Why use only comics as a defence. There's plenty of shitty superhero films, and they're a better point of comparison because they're in the same medium and near-enough genre ('cos superhero films are typically action blockbusters).Samtemdo8 said:Snip a long list of comics that are supposedly shit.
Becaause I believe comic books have made stories and portrayals of characters even WORSE then the worst superhero movies.Evonisia said:I genuinely wonder why the trailer just showed typical trailer footage of the film rather than, y'know, some R Rating stuff. Didn't one of the "Deadpool" trailers straight up show that bit where he impales somebody on his swords? Why didn't we get that?

Granted I've not seen BvS, I'm waiting on this version of the film, so maybe it is the worst superhero film ever made.
Because the R-Rating is less of a draw then the supposed inclusion of scenes that make the movie make sense and flow better. So they show cased those scenes instead.Evonisia said:I genuinely wonder why the trailer just showed typical trailer footage of the film rather than, y'know, some R Rating stuff. I have heard that Aquaman had even moe footage cut confirming he was gonna have either a larger role or a larger presence in the film.Bitter Hobbit said:I hope, although I really doubt it will happen, that rather then just adding in some new scenes relevant to this film they remove or re-edit ones that weren't. The scene with introducing The Flash, Aquaman etc were poorly placed in the film. Rather then getting me excited for the up coming films it sort of reminded me of that advertising scene in Waynes World, only it wasn't taking the piss out of advertising it was actual advertising.
I'm hoping that a second viewing that has some new things even though mostly I know what to expect lets me enjoy it more. Because right now I'm still unable to decide if I like it or not.
I sort of knew that was set-up because Lex sent his goons to kill the villagers in Africa to frame Superman.Bob_McMillan said:Well, it at least looks like they are going to solve some plotholes, like why the hell Superman was being blamed for killing some people in Africa.
Hey, I might get it. If only to see the warehouse scene again with brightness turned up to 100.
Can people please stop using All Star Superman as the be all end all of how Superman should be. Especially considering I find that whole saving an suicidal emo girl to be extremely cheesy and on the nose?undeadsuitor said:Go on DC, shine that shit till you can see your face in it. I'm sure if you keep adding better scenes, and keep removing bad ones, it will eventually be a good movie.

Man, when writers do Superman right, he's so good. My main problem with the Snyder Superman is that he always seems so put upon and melancholy when he should be above that. I wish they could have done All Star Superman or What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way? instead of whatever Man of Steel and BvS was supposed to be. These new scenes added to the extended cut won't solve the core problem of Superman's characterization.undeadsuitor said:Go on DC, shine that shit till you can see your face in it. Its not that I think he sucks, its that I have seen even WORSE than BvS Superman, besides imo the portrayal of BvS Superman is inoffensive to me.undeadsuitor said:So we're in agreement. Can you guys at least highlight other examples like these and not constanly use that one thing?
Can I say that I have a small problem with the last one? Superman should never assure someone that he won't save them. Especially since, if that is the comic I think it is, he even implies to someone who asked if he really would have allowed her to kill herself that he would have.undeadsuitor said:Go on DC, shine that shit till you can see your face in it. The action scenes saved this movie for crying out loud. And if you think the fight scenes were boring you have not seen Batman Begins:Saltyk said:The movie was terrible. Absolutely awful. Maybe even worse than Man of Steel if I'm being honest, and I turned that one off after the Smallville scene. There is no way they can add enough to the movie to fix the motivations, plot holes, useless characters (looking at you Lois), bad portrayals (Jokthur) and just boring "action" scenes. This is one of those movies that things happened because the script says they did, and that is lazy film making. 30 minutes won't fix that.
