I recently bought Battlefield 2 (I know, a bit late to the party), and I've been having a lot of trouble landing shots of enemies, even when my sights are directly on him. I'd just like to ask any of you Battlefield 2 veterans if you can explain to me why exactly this is. It's just that all the other FPSes I've played where you can aim down the sights makes all the shots super-accurate when you do so, so I'm just wondering if it's intentional that this is different (I know Battlefield 2 did come before those other FPSes) or if it's just the servers. Is it bullet physics like the snipers in BF: Bad Company 2 had? Is it a built in randomness like the hip crosshairs? Is it bad hit detection (either from the game in general or the servers)? I am pretty much certain that my aim is directly on target, and I've had no trouble landing shots in other FPSes I've played with an aim-down-sights feature.

Thanks in advance to anyone responding to this.

I don't know if this will help, but the bullets in battlefield drop over distances, meaning you should aim higher if shooting over long distances. Again, I don't know if this would help but I hope it does because that game ROCKS! :)

Thanks for that, it was just a bit confusing and I couldn't find anywhere else that could clarify this for me. And yes it probably will help although, as with anything, it'll probably take me some time to get the exact amount I have to aim higher down.

Thanks for answering, now I can go enjoy this epic game.

There's no bullet drop in Battlefield 2, like there is in all the weapons in BFBC2 (not just the snipers), so don't take that into account and aim for dead center.

You can't go prone in BF2, from memory. However crouching will increase your accuracy, as will not moving when firing. It'll never be really accurate like a lot of other shooters though, it's not designed to be. Good luck.

Ah, so that explains why my accuracy decreased when I took the guy's advice. Well, thanks for the advice to go lower when shooting, and yes there is prone in BF2.

Okay.

Are you on a PC or Console?

What class are you playing?

What weapon are you using?

I would say from a very long BF2 career, you should use the M24, G36E, Stock LMGs. Don't bother with assault class, you'll hardly get any points.

Another thing to consider... Are you shooting on full auto? Or are you shooting maybe 1 or two rounds at a time? You're accuracy will go up exponentially if you set your weapons to single shot and go from there (this doesn't apply to some LMG's.)

Don't use a Dragonov unless you've spent ALOT of time with one.

Use TEAMWORK! That's how this game is designed. You must use it to win.

To answer some peoples questions. Yes you CAN go prone in BF2. Yes, there IS bullet drop (although rather slight). There is standard deviation for weapons when shooting. And it is possible to attach a tank to a Su-33 and fly around in it.
