5 days in and the beta still don't work. Unknown error is the only experience of the battlefield i've had. Frankly this is a disaster. It has been mishandled completely with absolutely no effort from Dice or EA to rectify. The priority is obviously the PC version as is borne out by the reports of the 360 version performance (my console) and the fact that you can't leave feedback on battlelog (whatever that is) without an Origins accout, something I neither want nor need. I've sent tweets, left blog comments on their official blog, and posted on their forum, all for naught. We are just over 3 weeks until release. On what evidence do I believe the final product won't be a massive mess like this 'beta', and why are we testing an older build (one that's therefore presumably no longer relevant)?

Right now I'd much rather play MW3, and that is saying a lot.

They are not testing the game, they are testing the servers and Battlelog and the forums, as well as receiving some input on the game itself. The game has said from the start it focuses on PC, and getting it on console was your fault - and seeing as to patch anything in the console version it would take longer than the Beta is out for to get approval from EA you guys really get left behind.
Wanting an Origin account to post on Origin forums is also not unreasonable. From memory you could link across your XBL account, I found that option somewhere. It is not so different to having to create an XBL account to play the PC version of Bioshock 2 - and that made even less sense, but I didn't mind.

Sometimes, I really have to question what kind of gameplay people on this site are getting.

Prone is not good in a game like Battlefield. Unless, of course, you have some sort of virtual bush fetish.

I agree almost completely with this, especially Dumbshit Island. The number of people I have killed on that island because they thought they were hidden and safe to snipe...

Personally, I have had no problems with the Beta, and everyone's complaints I have seen to date about gameplay balance 'issues' I have been easily able to turn around with some tactics. Campers? Get a 6X scope on an assault rifle and shoot at them. Suppression keeps them blinded, you damage them, and all going well, they die.
Rocket Launchers and LMGs down a hallway for defence. Get a squad of assualts to open fire down the hallway with 2 medics around the corner. When someone dies, res them. Works every time for me.
Flashlights blind me too much: That's the freaking point. Get your own flashlight, and/or shoot in the direction the light is coming from. Or, don't get in close range. Flashlights are meant to be devastating in close range, but detrimental in long range. Deal with it.
'I get killed after 3 seconds of walking around': Take Cover. It helps to no end.
'Snipers are OP, and they never go for objectives': Which is why I eat snipers for breakfast, unless they are going assault sniper and running close range with a sniper with a flashlight and a HOLO zoom, running up next to you then 1 hitting you due to the snipers power and hitbox glitches. Some of the best objective hunters on the teams I play on have been snipers.

There are many more, but that is all I could be bothered with. The other thing that annoys me is the 'This isn't a beta, its a demo'. Whilst its true a lot of companies do that, this Beta was weeks or months old at its release dates. Why isn't it released by now if that was the finished product and they were just giving us a demo to pique our interest? Oh Yeah, Its a freaking Beta that is still being worked on before the final release. Better Squad management, among other things, is being added, and lots of bugs are being fixed.

The whole point of a Beta is to ***** about the bugs that hows they get fixed so get off your high horse and accept that right now battlefield is a horrible game to play because of all the bugs but despite that I've played 11 hours of it even though its only one map because it is still an amazing game.

Have you played Operation Metro? There is like a solid line of snipers and LMGers. The moment you pop your head out of cover, it gets taken clean off from 100+ meters away. How exactly are you supposed to take out someone hundreds of meters away lying prone in a bush so that they can't be seen?

You also go sniper/LMGer and spam. But then the attacking team loses. It doesn't help that phase 1 of Op Metro is a glitchy near-unplayable mess.

It's gotten to the point where I just kind of sit there until we move into the subway or the round ends. It happens in the subway too, but at least it's small enough that you can fight back without stooping to their level.
Well, from my experience the answer is teamwork. You need snipers and support guys taking out the enemy, and you also need guys that move from cover to cover to get to the bomb site. After one guy plants all that needs to happen for engies to destroy the cover and allow friendly snipers and support guys to cover the bomb site. It can be tough, and sometimes impossible to achieve this by yourself, but with a good team behind you it's doable.

People have the right to ***** and moan about a game that they don't feel is up to scratch that a company is trying to flog to them

There are WAAAAAY too many campers for me to enjoy this game. Everyone just lays on their vagina behind a wall or inside a bush and won't budge the entire match.

Call of Duty has worse mechanics, but at least the community has a few pair of testicles between them.

Incoming BF fanboys citing "realism" as the reason their entire community consists of cowards.

Battlefield 3? ... Eh... not my tea-cup. Tried the demo, and liked it but not my tea-cup.
Isn't the phrase "Cup of Tea"?
The phrase is cup of tea. I just said tea-cup cause I'm weird and was tired when I posted.

Is it OK if I have that tea cup instead since you are not putting any tea in it?
Go ahead. DICE and EA are giving tea-cups away till the 10th. Then you have to buy it and the tea-cups you got before then disappear.

Oh, and flashlights. Everyone's always complaining about how overpowered FLASHLIGHTS are.
That's an interesting one actually, I've found the flashlight to be nothing but a good mark for me to shoot at.

Which is nice 'n' all, but prehaps not what was intended by Dice.

I've enjoyed the Beta though, it's nice to have prone, spotting and equipment back in the field in a more useful manner than BC/2.

I enjoyed it, for the first few days, but it seems now that the campers have discovered the party and the snipers are the +1.

Now I know snipers are part and parcel of the battlefield series, but proning under the map with a scope or constantly camping in a hedge doesnt ring in the fun times for me. The game seems fine, but heres hoping.the community grows a bit better.

Heres hoping the polished version is as good as was promised too, otherwise all these months of internet bitching will have been wasted.

I feel your pain, playing the 360 beta persuaded me to buy a new Pc.

As for the build, it's about generating data. While the 'old build' might be genuinely old and have some glitches they knew about, I bet it's brought up thousands they didn't, especially for the console versions. I bet they thought the net code was much stronger and less rubber band prone than it is for starters. Expect major updates in the weeks after release...

This is the first (console based) beta I've played that actually felt like a beta, compared to some I've been in (anyone reading this remember Soldner?) it's hasn't been that bad. Not great, but functional mostly. A lot 'betas' in console land seem to really be game demos of the finished product, rather than an actual working build.

I usually fail or get bored quickly at most online games, but I am really, really loving this game. I have always overlooked the Call of Duty and Battlefield games, 'modern warfare' games (modern warfare being genre, not the CoD game) really aren't my thing, but I'm certainly going to be picking this up some time.

I'm praying for a flipping mute function for the PS3 version though. The console only has in-game supported mute.

I'm still not going to touch Battlefield 3 due to the privacy bullshit that's gone on with Origin. EA have lost me as a potential customer and many others I'm sure.

I find the counter-arguement "It's the Beta" isn't too comforting, considering that the game is 20 days from being released in the States, and 23 days from release everywhere else.

Given that games usually ship to stores at least 5 days before official release, and I'm guessing that the game has to be 100% done a few days before then.
The beta ends in 5 more days, giving DICE less than a week to fix all the bugs.
They'd better hurry the fuck up, because I've encountered:
Occasionally sprint just doesn't work. Simple, yet utter shit.
Random flashes for unexplained reasons. Not TacLights, just unexplainable blips that take up the entire screen.

The rest seem to be gameplay flaws, like a huuuuge wait before respawning, where you can't even change your loadout, just look at the guy that shot you.
Oh, and let's not forget KNIFING STILL BEING SHIT.

LMAO^ "Tea-Cup"

Anyway, I now refer to the 'beta' as Battlefail Bushcamper 3. That sums up my experience.

alright. first of all you are exacly the person i hate. trashing another person and calling them a moron AND cursing at them over a FORUM POST. grow up. i already explained once that i should have said 'i like the beta in spite of the bugs' and i also recognize that an extreme amount of bugs isnt fun for anybody. also i am not one of those players who hides under the map or goes to places that they shouldnt be able to. i play it like it is meant to be played.

as for the bitching about people bitching part. i know i can mute people. i have been doing it for years. but i would rather not have to because i would like people who can be civil in online interactions and not act like giant douches. kind of like what you are right now. get a life and stop bitching at people over the slightest thing. i started this thread so people can discuss what they liked about the beta and what they didnt like. NOT for people to attack my post. if you disagree with me you are allowed to say so. but do so like an adult.

Wow these fanboys just crawl out of the woodwork, "I love the game and all it's bugs, don't you dare mention them"... seriously?
You don't want bugs to be pointed out and fixed?
You somehow prefer broken games?
i should have said i like the beta in spite of the bugs. and i am surprised at the amount of rage at bugs in what is supposed to be a beta

It's by far the buggiest beta I've ever played (PS3 version). I get that it's a beta, and that these bugs will probably be patched, but it doesn't exactly give me confidence. The game is less than a month away, and from the matches I've played, things have felt really broken. I played it on the PS3 in order to avoid having to download Origin onto my computer, and I decided if I felt like the game was worth it, I'd buy it on PC. I didn't have that much fun with it, to be honest.

Except for the prone for some strange reason, I really like how fluid it feels going in and out of prone, but that's about it.

I was looking at the forums over at the battlelog on the battlefield 3 site and there is a lot of bitching about the bugs and prone. what i have to say to all those people is that if you dont like the beta then dont buy the game. i like the beta bugs and all and the multiplayer without your bitching and moaning and without the trademark COD thirteen year old will be so much better.

what do you guys think? share my sentiment?
So I should be content with paying $60 for a product that seems glitchy and shitty? Even if I like the previous games in the series? You're a moron.

"i like the beta bugs"

You like gltiching through the map and killing people while you can't be killed? Normally you have to mod or hack to do so, and it is called cheating. What the fuck is wrong with you? "I like nails in my grilled cheese, I know they're not supposed to be there but at least I got a sandwich out of it!"

"if you don't like the beta then don't buy the game"

What exactly did you think was going to happen?

"...and all the multiplayer without your bitching and moaning and without the trademark COD thirteen year old will be so much better."

He says whilst bitching and moaning about people he can FUCKING MUTE. Perhaps instead of bitching and moaning about people bitching and moaning you should... hmmmm... learn how to use your fucking system? Your logic seems to be that I should buy a busted dysfunctional game even if I don't want to just because it isn't Call of Duty. Good work, you should go into marketing.

Here is how this is going to go, as a player of damn near every single Battlefield game since 1942: I am not buying it right away. I will give DICE a chance to fix their fucking crap, more than likely they already have and this was just a garbage beta. They tend to make good games. I haven't lost all faith just yet. But honestly? The fucking menus don't even work without freezing at a loading screen. Quit? Freeze. Join? Freeze! Prone? Under the map. Tree falls over? Green line across my screen. Looking around in-game? Blinking on the screen. Well at least the sounds are great... oh wait now my sound is faint/gone. *sigh*

What the shit made them release something so lackluster? Also, I heard a big game about the graphics and lighting. Sorry, this looks exactly like BC2.
You do realize that it's a beta. Dice used the beta to test servers and find glitches they may have missed. It's not a demo, nor is it the final product. Also, Dice confirmed that this was an older build, most of the problems have already been fixed.
