Battlefield: Bad Company Beta Begins (Soon)

Digital Illusions CE [http://www.ea.com] has announced the upcoming beta test for Battlefield: Bad Company on the Xbox 360, scheduled to begin March 17.

Keys for the beta will be offered to the public in North America and Europe via GameStop [http://www.fileplanet.com], although only 5000 keys will be available through that channel.

"We are really excited for this beta as it gives us a chance for great feedback on how to polish the experience of our multiplayer mode, Gold Rush," said Battlefield: Bad Company Senior Producer Karl-Magnus Troedsson. "Battlefield and FPS fans get their first glimpse into how tactical destruction can be applied in multiplayer gameplay. We think offering these two very different maps will give gamers a fantastic experience and some great insight into the game."

The beta test will include two multiplayer maps, access to infantry kits and vehicles and a new multiplayer mode called "Gold Rush," an attack-and-defend scenario in which one team must defend two crates filled with gold while the other attempts to destroy them. Battlefield: Bad Company is slated for release in June 2008 on the Battlefield: Bad Company website [http://www.xbox.com].

Battlefield 2 was my addiction a few years back. Ironically, it has been replaced by TF2. A combination of them both will only spell disaster for my social life. Yes; I've already signed up to the beta via other mediums (another magazine) so we'll see how events pan out. EA are working fast, but probably are going to fail miserably at balancing it for at least the first five patches.

Still, as long as the anti-tank class stays horribly overpowered (unlike BF2142), then I cannot complain.

Bon chance to all those who enter the draw.
