So, we know there's a sizable WH40K community here, but what about Battletech? The recent revival of the franchise in video games makes this an interesting question.

Do you play the TT game? If so, what's your faction? And your favorite mech?

I've played the TT game for about 20 years. We still play somewhat regularly at our local gaming store. I used to play as the Free World League, until the Clans came along, that is. Then I fell in love with Clan Wolf. After the Refusal War, I sized with the Wardens, and so currently I play as Clan Wolf-in-Exile.

And my favorite mech is, and always will be, the Timber Wolf Prime.

I still have all my books, boxes and models, but haven't played in 15 years.

It's just too time consuming compared to other boardgames...but I do miss it.

I still occasionally pull out one of the Technical Readouts to drool over the designs...and I have a deep love for the setting and it's history.

I've never known anyone to play a TT game with, but I've been a BattleTech fan since I played The Crescent Hawk's Inception and Mechwarrior. I have a number of source books and bought my first Pentium to play Mechwarrior 2 online (ah, NetDemo.. may you rot in hell).

At various points online I've favored ComStar and Clan Coyote, since I like pulling for the irrelevant I'd say either Marik or a Periphery state (Oberon Confederation). I'm a fan of a big alpha strike, I've always been partial to a Hunchback with the 20 (I had my best online game ever on MPBT: Solaris in a Hunchback against a lance of heavy mechs that were all focused on my lance's heavy mechs, got in under their cockpits and carved out their chests with the 20 for all four kills) or an Awesome.

Yeah, have to go with either the Timber Wolf Prime or Mad Dog Prime (poor man's skirmish TW) myself. Always loved Clan Wolf, but found myself playing more and more as a Drac to even things out with the group- too many clanners and I love playing the underdog.

Been quite a while though, haven't played in about a decade. The old group dried up as time went on. Shame.

I use to play the TT game ages ago. It was the first run of PC games that got my friends and I into it. I very much look forward to any new video games that may come out be it Battletech or Mechwarrior. My favorite mech is still the old Marauder.

loved it, played the Tabletop even on tournaments (3025) more than a decade before. But after FASA crashed, this franchise went down the drain... they made the best material for it until the early-mid 90s; same is true for SR the other FASA franchise i would love to see back with the quality of the old days.

That is true, the whole Dark Ages thing is where they lost most of the veterans. But, they realized their mistake and now DA is relegated to the backdrop, and what they call "classic" is the main game once again.

I see a lot of people here who stopped playing, though... why not pick it back up? My group that I started with has long since broken apart, but I found new players at our local store. Try to give it a go, maybe?

this was definitely the case for me, even though i hadn't played in 4-5 years, I was still buying books and reading all the novels...when they jumped the timeline forward, I lost all interest.

good luck managing that heat :p
Coolant flush my friend coolant flush )

Although once it's run out get used to 'Heat level critical, auto shut-down engaged' swiftly followed by 'Shut-down overridden' and then if you are not extremely careful 'BOOOM'
