So as many of you have probably heard, there are rumors about the supposed cancellation of Bayonetta 2 before it has even been announced. In response, it seems that lead designer Hideki Kamiya has been taking advantage of the publicity of the whole thing to make fun of people's responses are stir up the pot (which I personally find hilarious.) Here is a link with some info on that: http://www.dualshockers.com/2012/05/01/bayonetta-creators-poke-fun-at-cancellation-rumors/

Anyways, I was just wondering what you guys think about Bayonetta 2 or Bayonetta in general. Would you play a sequel? Did you enjoy the first game? What do you think of the bit of controversy currently around it?

I personally find Bayonetta to be a big guilty pleasure game. It's really friggin' fun, and hell, I'm a girl and I think she's damn sexy. It was a blast, and I would definitely like to see more. But then again... DmC is coming out, right? xD

I love the first game. I was averse to it for a while due to the sexuality, actually. I don't know, I guess I felt like I'd be living up to the media image of male gamers obsessed with boobies. But then I realized I was being silly, played the game, and found it to be the most polished and best controlling action game I've ever played. It's so fluid.

But a sequel? Meh, it doesn't really need it. Not every game needs a sequels. Not even the ones I love. Sometimes especially not the ones I love.

Besides, I really want to see what crazy over-the-top new IP Platinum Games can come up with next. I've tried two (the other being Vanquish) and loved both. Both games kicked my ass, and I appreciated that difficulty.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I felt like Bayonetta did well what it set out to do: be an awesome over-the-top action game. I also don't think that it necessarily needs a sequel... but nonetheless I would probably pick it up.

I thought Devil May Cry 2 had a much better combat system than the first game, even though the story was somehow even worse. I would love to see the kinds of improvements and additions that a sequel would add.

I don't think any game needs a sequel, but I would pre-order Bayonetta 2 immediately. And I generally don't preorder games.

It's a complete story, but I want some more Platinum quality action, Revengeance might be it even if it has a ridiculous name but Bayonetta does seem a stronger base to work from.

I absolutely loved Bayonetta. A sequel would be cool for sure; dunno if it really needs one but...I'd play it for sure.

Honestly, I wouldn't even know what this game even was if it weren't for Johnny's review.

Personally, I'd like to see her in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing: Transformed. That'd at least give her another spot.

The answer to that question is Anarchy Reigns, an online multiplayer brawler featuring characters from their previous games (specifically MadWorld and Bayonetta)

And there's Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but that's not a new IP.

first one was fun and over the top in a good way

don't really know where they'd go for a part to, but long as the don't fuck it up like they did with DMC2, i'd play it

Zero interest in it myself. But I hope folks who want it do get a sequel

Wait... characters from MadWorld and Bayonetta are in it? I looked it up, and couldn't find anything about that. If so... count me in!

Bayonetta was a wonderful game and I would definitely fork out for a sequel. It's a shame that Sega is going down the shitter, I just hope that Platinum Games and all their projects dont' follow in suite.

I liked the original quite a bit, and I'd definitely buy a sequel at some point. Hell, DmC just gives all the greater a reason to release a Bayonetta 2. At most, DmC's gameplay could be kind of good, whereas Bayonetta 2's gameplay would most likely be awesome, given Platinum's pedigree.

Bayonetta is still the best hack 'n slash game I've played, and I've played a lot.
As much as I want a sequel, I can't imagine anything would top it. But more of the same would be great.

Bayonetta is one of my favorite games of the current gen cycle. I loved the polished controls and the crazy (but well written) story kept me engaged until the very end.

I hate to think of all the gamers who didn't give the game a chance because they thought it was just an overly sexed up game designed for horny teenage boys.

I do wish I'd given it a chance when it first came out.

As it is, I would probably pre-order a copy of Bayonetta 2 if it did come out.

I thought the first one was funny without being stupid, had a strong, sexy female lead who wasn't just a man with boobs or helpless and had to rely on the big strong men to help her out, and had a brilliant if frustratingly difficult combat system which rewarded you having the reflexes of an athlete on drugs (so just an athlete, dum dum dish!) and bent you over if you didn't.

Basically, as long as the characters are still amusing and well written, and the gameplay is fluid, rewarding if difficult and feels good, I'm all for it.

I'd definitely buy a sequel, you know you're doing something right when the biggest complaint YAHTZEE has is about the fanservice. He was forced to make the same ass joke around twelve times. You wanna know something funny, I don't think the controversy was really about the game, other games have gotten away with being just as bad for that, and sometimes even worse. I think people were just looking for something to be angry about. It might just be me, but it seems that those kinds of issues only come up on slow news days, when things actually go well, and people just get bored. Either that or people just forget to be stupid when a hurricane comes.

Get the real dante, and bayonetta in a cross-over game, and I'm sold. First game was amazing, as a newb who is really bad at these types of games, I love the combo system in that game. It was so damn fluid and sexy :)

Oh and Vanquish 2 please.

Also, moviebob needs an appearance in that game. I really love the vlogs he made about Bayonetta in a time where everyone was hating on the game for being too sexy, or too misogynistic. Because you know, can't have a sexy woman kicking ass in games these days.
