So then, if you've not heard of Bayonetta, I wouldn't really be all that surprised since the only thing about the game that's really caused a stir in the gaming press was this stunningly crass trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41158.html

However, looking at the people that are involved with the game really makes me intrigued- it's being created by Hideki Kamiya (creator of Devil May Cry) and previous members of Team Clover, the dev-team responsible for Okami, Viewtiful Joe and several other fantastic games that absolutely everybody failed to buy.

So here's the thing, despite being a crass vaguely sexist Devil May Cry rip-off the game is being made by developers of some of the quirkiest and best games of the past two generations. Should Devil May Cry be worried, especially after the frustration that many gamers expressed at DMC4? Or is this just a derivative knock-off which will be quickly forgotten after a short time?

What do you all think?

I can't watch the trailer because my work network blocks most things game related. However the description from Wikipedia sounds amusing.

"Bayonetta, who has guns on her feet and hands, blowing off the heads of monsters masquerading as angels."

It's a good question. However, when Bayonetta will come out. We will see if the game is a new experience or a copy-cat.

However, Sarah Palin kicking a certain demon's ass sounds entertaining.

What about if Sarah Palin's clothes start to disappear the more moves she does?

Seriously, The character in Bayonetta's clothes are made out of her magic hair, which unravels the more moves she makes.

I saw the trailer which I thought was laughably bad on PSN. I thought, when watching, how much I will avoid this release. Even your mention of TEAM CLOVER who I respect as developers won't get me anywhere near this game.

Slowmotion close-ups of PVC crotches - whatever. Devil May Care, I don't

Looks too much like a DMC rip-off, even though one of the dudes on the team actually made the first DMC...

Some of the special moves involved seem very tempting, but unfortunetly it all looks like a DMC clone.
Any of you notice that bayonetta is crazy?

Guns for feet? I'm sold. The only way this could be better if the main character was completely made from weapons, and had to kill the demons to gain parts of her body back, if it were based in the Warring States period in Japan it could only make it better.

Just call it Dororo and get it over with.

It looks like it might be decently fun to play and hilarious to boot so I'll probably give it a rental.

I can't even begin to describe how lame this game looks.
And that's from just watching that trailer.

Hmm, previously I was kind of excited about the game, but after playing trough DMC4 I lost interest in the whole genre(whatever you want to call it. I go for over-the-top-stylish-japanophile-hacknslay)

The actual gameplay looks okay, but that trailer is so trashy and lowbrow that the main lady might as well be doing it with every single one of those monsters. There really wouldn't be much difference, and the game would probably sell a lot more copies.

*massive sigh*

This confuses me greatly. I mean, what I've seen of it isn't particularly impressive, and the gratuitous camera angles and strange concept (she attacks and summons monsters with her hair that's also her clothes? What?) make me ashamed to talk about this game in public, but the people behind it have made some of my favourite games... It's as if Miyamoto, after releasing OoT to global accolade, said that he was in charge of the the next Leisure Suit Larry game. I don't know what the think.
