As a traditional British-man, I do believe that nearly everything the BBC says is true.

Actually, that is a fact. Not a opinion.

Well, they are a lot more reliable than most US news outlets.
Its mostly because they report facts and don't then add an additional spin onto them... and if they do have a sort of spin to them, then they allow all sides to speak on the matter so you don't just get a one sided story like with the US media.

It does seem suspitious that they would happen at the same time, although you called the channel BBC Persian, really? A bit colonial isn't it?
Oh my, you're not one of those ultra-leftists who believe that we should all violently beat ourselves daily because the UK once had an empire? As has been mentioned already, Persia is a language type and the Persian region was around long before Britain had anything to do in the area.

I hope you also know that Persia had their own Empire at one time. As did the Dutch, the Greeks, the Romans, the Chinese, the Japanese, the French, the Germans, the Spanish, the Portuguese, the Russians, the Mongolians, the Egyptians, the Americans...
So in short, a country which once had an Empire 100 years ago and now has a TV station in a region and decide to name that station after the regional language is hardly being colonial.
I did know that other countries has empires (you would have to be pretty ignorant not to know about the greeks and the romans ect) it was just my understanding that people who lived in Iran did not like being called Persia. However, as many people have pointed out, the channel name refers to the language not the the country. A fact that I had overlooked.

I am mostly a forgive and forget type, if it wasn't for the empire I wouldn't exsist since I am the grandaughter of Caribbean Immgraints that came over in the 50's. So no I don't think we should all 'beat ourselves' (whatever that means) because our great grandfathers were massive dicks but don't think that means we can think that our coloinal past doesn't cause tensions and issues that effect all of us today.

People are weird and stupid and for some reason are emotionally and politicly influenced by arguments between Lords that happened centuries ago - trust me I know, I live in Scotland.

That's life I guess.

Everything bad that happens to everyone these days will be blamed on Iran because the civilized nations of the first world are preparing for another invasion. And it will be the same as it was in Iraq. And once again, we're just gonna let them do it.
