So I decided to give this game a try and picked it up used yesterday. I was told the campaign was skippable but I at least tried it. Got bored of that in the middle of the third mission so I decided to try the multiplayer which I've been told is what's worth playing anyways. I know a lot of people love this game but so far I really can't get into it. It seems to be very teamwork heavy and doesn't take a whole lot of skill, I've been at the top of the leaderboard on half the games I played and just got this thing yesterday. With most people online not talking and massive open maps the game feels very impersonal and far too vehicle oriented. Where in a game like COD 4 you can make the difference and lead your team to victory it seems like your actions have much less affect on victory unless maybe you're in a helicopter the whole time. Most of what I've seen of the gameplay is either people camping up in buildings or using tanks.

TL;DR: What multiplayer gametypes or weapons or class or gear or whatnot would you suggest for a better BC2 experience? Maybe I just don't like the game but you guys helped me enjoy an RTS so maybe you can do this too.

Edit: Oh, and sniping is sorta irritating. I would be fine with having to lead shots and such but 2 hits for a kill with such a slow firing rifle(whatever the starting one is) is kinda ridiculous. I can pull off a couple moving headshots but that's tougher than it should be when they can just spray you from a mile away.

Play with a group of friends who communicate.
That's the best part of BC2. The teamwork.

You don't like the game, I'd say that's it.

It sounds like you prefer games with Multiplayer like COD 4 and such, so I'd try and stick with those.

Well, it's a lot about teamwork, unless you're lucky and end up in a swuad where people work together, you'll not experience it unless you play with friends.

Try playing with 1-3 friends and see how far you come with teamwork, it's amazing how just a few people working coodinated can turn the game around

Play one of the smaller modes (squad rush or deathmatch) they're more like MW2.

And people rarely camp unless they have sniper rifles.

My experience with MW2 and BC2 is reversed of yours. I find I do fantasict in BC2, and always have a decent team (not always decent squad mates). While in MW2, I almost never get more than 5 kills and never have less than 15 deaths.

I didn't like the demo, but I borrowed the game off a friend and ordered it for myself the very next day. I love the online, it requires strategy. And it really does help if your friends have it too. I already have a clan on it :p

your avatar is awsome ^_^ just had to be said...

anyway yeah you cant compare the 2... ive always enjoyed the battlefield series over the cod series because i like sniping, i like vehicles and i hate been shot from across the map with a smg... also i like the slower pace the mp takes... cod is just to fast and hetic for me to enjoy it fully

I've been playing this game for 4 days now and same story, Most time I have the top score and still loses.....
I think that if you have played CoD4 this game is eazy and far below your skill.
and just like you i can't snipe for solidwaste.. I was a die-hard-sniper-b!ch in mw2 and waw, and now its strangly harder :S

If you're not playing rush, I'd do that. Conquest is decent (still not as good as it was back in the old days) but rush is the main multiplayer experience. Also, if you haven't yet, try hardcore mode at some point or another. It makes the game either easier or harder, depending on your play style.

If you want to feel like your having an impact on the flow of the battle, try hanging back in more a support role. For example, when I'm playing assault I usually hang back and spam smoke grenades onto the objective so that my teammates can get there with little opposition. Sure you won't be getting all the points that way, but you do get the satisfaction of knowing that without your actions your team may have lost the match.

Another thing that is likely detracting from your experience is bad teams. I've found that nearly 9/10 games I have a completely awful team of people suffering "COD syndrome" (that being lone wolf score whores). If you're not having fun in a match just quit and join a different one and hope you have a better team. I usually end up quitting half of the matches I join because of this.

Since your asking about load-outs I might as well share what I usually have:

Assault: M416 w/ red dot + smoke grenades; magnum ammo;

Engineer: AKS-74; M2 (will switch to mines occasionally); both explosives specializations/perks/whatever you call them (added damage + more ammo);

Medic: MG36 w/ red dot; magnum ammo;

Recon: GOL w/ 12x scope (will switch to T88 occasionally); magnum ammo

Vehicles: V Elect or Warhead

For my sidearm I usually use the M9. A bit weak but it's quick fire rate more than makes up for what it lacks. The 1911 and Rex are overrated. MP-443 is also decent.

Hope this helped in some way.

Yeah I tried going with these ideas, but because EA is incredibly stupid and they insist on having their own servers, we could ever connect to the same matches. Then we went and played a game that worked.
