I love Bear Grylls. I love watching Man vs. Wild, both for the survival lessons and just to see what crazy shit he'll do next. I also recently watched his new show, Worst Case Scenario. It paints him as some kind of superhero. In one episode he gets in a car crash with a delivery truck, escapes his overturned truck, then saves the driver of the delivery truck. Then he saves two people in a boating accident. What do you Escapists think of him and his shows?

I have a friend who's in love with the man. He has the Official Bear Grylls Wool Jacket that he wears every day, Official Bear Grylls Pants, and even Official Bear Grylls Shoes. Personally, I like his shoes, they're always very interesting, to say the least. Extremely interesting to say the most.

He's a complete and utter nutcase.
Which incidentally makes him extremely enjoyable to watch while he does things of questionable sense.

I mean seriously, the guy has kids.

Bear Grylls and Mike Rowe are two of the sexiest men alive.

If I were a female, I'd gladly whore myself out to them.

I love man vs wild, and Bear Grylls is a champ, insane but a champ.
what he does is purely for entertainment and i wouldn't consider most of what he does as vital to my own survival. Ha, besides hes got a camera crew and everything with him so...

oh! and hes also head of Venturer Scouts in the U.K. How cool is that?!

Survivor Man pwns Bear Grylls. Plus he's Canadian, which makes me more inclined to like him.

But Man Vs Wild is incredibly funny to watch, especially the Will Farrell episode.

He has a whole support crew with him. All he does is show what you WOULD do if you were in that situation, he probably has all kinds of safety back ups plus food and water.
I'm pretty sure this, or something quite similar. I've seen the guy get horrifically sick before from drinking some bad water, so I doubt that was planned or anything. But, generally speaking I see him as a situational survival guide. If there's any kind of shit storm you can get yourself into in any type of environment, Bear Grylls likely knows how to survive it.

EDIT: And yes, I think he's pretty damn helpful also.
Sigh. I was just making a joke about the way he eats his way across the wilderness. Maybe one episode he could kill and eat his camera man.

Come on down to Tasmania Bear.

And I said, right there?s another one, don?t you frown,
Chew the meat and hold it down
It?s a tale they won?t believe,
When I get down to Hobart town

Oh he's one of the coolest men on the planet, I love watching Man vs. Wild. When I grow up I'll be just like him!

Oh and of course he has the crew with him for emergency cases it would be pretty fucking stupid to die while filming a TV show, but still everything he does in front of the camera is for real. It's not like he's eating fake bugs or doing stunts with strings attached above the camera shot.

I adore the man, only seen him a few times on tv.

But the man's got ball's, and you've got to respect that.
