In MW2 everyone calls you noob for using akimbo shotties, everyone.
Fixed*

But yeah, 1887s were definitely overpowered. Why bother using any other secondary when you had them?

Nope, if its put in the game for a player to use to their advantage then its using your head.

Now your being a n00b if you, for Example, in a Fighting game use the SAME ATTACK OVER AND OVER AND OVER IN THE SAME MATCH.
Not even trying to put a decent combo or special attack together.
No, that's being lame. I've been playing fighting games for just over 10 years and am still a mashing whore.

And OP (and anyone else ripping on n00bs), so what? You have to start somewhere. The real crime going on here is elitism, which your friend has in spades.

I'm not sure I would categorize this as being a n00b. Let's say, using Street Fighter as an example, I'm playing Ryu and I throw a fireball. You try to jump the fireball only to mistime the jump and land on it. I see it works and throw another, you land on that one too. Is it really n00bish for me to throw a third or fourth and so on if you keep getting hit by them? That would be boring gameplay, certainly, but it's hardly n00bish to do what works.
True, but to me its still requires some skill to get the timing down to preform a juggle like that.

While on the other hand it requires no skill whatsoever to hold the c-stick foreword and rapidly press X.
Also takes no skill to counteract that move. Or outdo it.

Who cares if it's elaborate? Skill in competitions is proven through winning them fairly, not by doing so in the least 'scrub' manner.
