Being Off-Topic

Ok, there is something I wanted to know. Is it possible to be Off-Topic if the point of a thread is to be Off-Topic? From my perspective, the only way to be Off-Topic is to be On-topic, because if you are not On-Topic, you must indeed be Off-Topic, but at the same point, being On-Topic in a Topic about being Off-Topic means that you must indeed be Off-Topic (otherwise how can you be On-Topic?) so really you cannot be solely 'Off-Topic' in such a situation.

So my question is this. Can anybody here on the Escapist find a way to be Off-Topic on a thread about being Off-Topic without being On-Topic? The reason I am asking this is because I do not wish to assume that my logic is the only way of apporaching the situation.

Also, if you have any other examples of things people consider paradoxes that you know a loop-hole to, feel free to share them.

Going a bit off the topic here, but have you ever wondered why the sky is red at night? I remember watching some crackpot on TV when I was a little kid saying it was dust from Mars.

I think they mean "Off the topic of video games and related material". Like those threads about "I've lost faith in..." Those actually belong in the /wrists section of the forums, but most people overlook that place.

I know right? It's like those dolphins were made for the sole purpose of brushing teeth. It's uncanny!

..... OWWWWW! My brains!

The answer is "No," although I don't remember the question or even want to attempt to read it again.

Yes, I think this is an excellent example of a mind game, making it on topic whilst being off topic at the same time.

No, this is a question about the theorized Topic. So you are meant to be On-Topic (and not in some Off-Topic, convoluted way)

I am not referring to the section of the forums titled 'Off-Topic' I am talking about a theoretical Topic where the entire point of the thread is to be Off-Topic (which would pose a problem seeing as you couldn't be Off-Topic without it actually being On-Topic).

Christ, man. Not only are ya ripping me off, but you had to do it to my 1000th post celebration [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.159231?page=1]. Know ye no shame? I am wounded to the core.

(Also, I am clearly off-topic.)

Well I think that the major news networks do more to entertain these days than they actually inform.

1. Quite right you are, your linked Topic did indeed inspire this one, I believe I might have actually posted on it aswell.

2. True, you are Off-Topic, but that is not the purpose of this Topic, the purpose of this Topic is to theorise over whether or not being Off-Topic in a Topic dedicated to BEING Off-Topic is practically possible (and to contribute any 'so-called' paradoxs you know that are in-fact, not paradoxes)

The topic of The Escapist is games. The Off-Topic board is thus for threads about anything other than games, but it's the individual threads' Original Posters that determine a non-game topic for each Off-Topic thread. Therefore, deviating from the non-game topic established by the Original Poster of any given Off-Topic thread makes you off-topic.
Yes, but if the Original Poster's Topic is about all things Off-Topic to the Topic of Off-Topic Topics, then can anything actually be Off-Topic? ^^That is effectively my question (And the 'paradoxes that aren't really paradoxes' thing which no-one seems to be able to contribute to *sad face*)
