Gday gamers Im Bang Smash Boom or you can call me Bang for short.
Wow, I?m dusting off my PS2 and I remember thinking "Hell yeah!" when I got my PS2 on Christmas, not really but you get the Idea.
I was hoping at first to rent ICO but instead I ended up buying an ex-rental for $5 which is the same copy I rented when I was just a kid.
Story:
ICO who is obviously the main characters name (Who cant speak English so we get forced to look at the bottom of the screen during cut scenes, very immersive guys!) is banished from his village into a creepy prison for having horns, but I saw Warriors with horns pointing down, so explain that guys?
And why send him to prison for have horns? Anyway ICO is put in prison because of these down pointed horned retards, and why do I call them down pointed horned retards, its because when ICO was put in his pod like cell thing (which is nice because its coloured green and everything) and just leaved with it unlocked, Really guys?
But I guess they locked his hands in the pod as they were thinking "Nah Im too lazy to lock him from the outside, and I doubt that therell be an earth quake which will tumble the pod over with the boy rolling out, falling on his head which will make him have a very out of place dream" Which is exactly what happened! Okay well the floor below ICOs pod was frail and the guards leaving caused the building shake because of the floor nearby was moving, but in a nut shell, Dumb ass retards + Really, really odd architecture = A little kid fouling everyones plains, do the math people! Anyway ICO doesnt try to escape alone, he finds a girl named Yorda, (no not Yoda from Starwars) and why shes in the prison in a hanging cage instead of a pod like ICO was, My guess shes royalty and she wanted a view, and yes shes royalty and the main reason why she tags along is when she steps in front of a green door it magically opens, Wow!
So in English ICO drags along a human shaped key for most of the game, but when they split up you find you same sword you see in the beginning which does everything that Yorda can do and more, which brings me to the gameplay.
Gameplay:
Okay I guess the other reason why ICO and Yorda trying to escape together is because they are friends (Blah Im going to be sick) But offcourse they dont just open the front gate and go "yuppie we are free!" but no its never that easy! We have to go through dozens of rooms which are all drenched with platforming then the jumping is a little off but easy to get use to, (oh and a little tip, to swing on a chain you have to press the action button, sure it was probably in the booklet but I bought the disc alone so I guess it was my fault then?) Environmental puzzles which are impossible to solve unless you have a laptop with youtube and there are also Shadow like creatures that try to drag Yorda into some sort black thing that makes everything turn into stone including ICO which I assume is good but then you get a game over screen and then I swear, so to prevent this from happening you bash them over the head with a stick or later on with a sword until they go poof, which is easier than it sounds, believe me! And you have to grab her hand everywhere you go so you go up to her to grab her hand or you call her.
If you instead call her you could have started a family with a very attractive Lady, written a best seller or even discovered immortality by the time Yorda grabs your hand which makes me laugh sometimes because I say to myself "Yes, yes, trust kid with horns, nothing bad will ever happen to you, mwahahaha!"
I noticed the button configuration is not that good, but you do get the option to change it anytime if you want so that?s good, and I?m surprised that ICO wasn?t also made for the PSP because it uses 10 buttons instead of the standard 12 but that?s just me.
Environments:
The sound effects, graphics and visionally style all add up to a wonderful atmosphere, some people may say "Bang this looks like crap" but if you play it all the way through youll notice all the heart and soul put into this game and Im sure back then it was state of the art and but from all those years a new comer such as myself still finds it a beautiful game, this saying something. Its a bit odd that you save by sitting on a couch but its easily forgiven.
Final verdict:
ICO is truly an awesome game and Im really looking forward to Shadow of the colossus and ICO being rereleased and the last Guardian looks very promising from the footage I have seen. So if you like these kinds of games then wait for the HD rerelease and pre-order The Last Guardian, if you have the ballz that is.
Next up is Monster Hunter Tri so get ready for that and... GAME ON AND BANG OUT!
