To me, that movie hinges 100% on the megazords
How do you feel about 6 legged Triceratops and 8 legged Mastodons? cuz that movie will have both of those
The same way i felt about a Triceratops on Treads, and a Sabertooth cat with wheels in the 90's.

And insert joke here about losing $85 million, but Bruce Wayne being a millionarie who covers it on his bat credit card and yadda yadda yadda.

So, let's see...according to rumour, Wonder Woman will be a disaster (skeptical), Justice League will be a disaster (looks like it in the trailers), The Flash is being rewritten from the ground up alongside having changed directors numerous times, The Batman is in iffy territory, and Aquaman is...possibly okay? Could go on further, but, well, yeah.

Well, maybe there's some fun to be had in watching the world burn. Or DCEU in this case.

Least Power Rangers might be fun?
All this says is he won't be directing it. He'll still star, write and produce it. And the rumours are just rumours til the film's actually come out. They hadn't even finished scoring the WW movie when that rumour came out making it unlikely anyone had seen it.

My guess is he just doesn't want another critical failure on his director's filmography. He's seen the critical pounding that the DCEU movies have taken and doesn't want to be on the hook for that much of it. At least if he's just acting he can say "well, I didn't direct this crap." Its almost as if he's seen troubles ahead for the film and is like the rat, fleeing from the burning ship.

Considering how much I don't care about the DC cinematic universe, why not give the director's chair to one of the biggest Batman fans out there - Kevin Smith? Even if he fucks it up who cares?
Ew.

Kevin Smith is too nerdy and lacks any dramatic depth to make a serious Batman movie.

He probably will make it like Adam West Batman or the Upcoming Lego Batman movie :p
Actually one of my all time favorite comics was written by him and adopted from a movie script that never got made because he was too afraid to make it. Personally I think he could do a great job.

It has humor in it, and to an extent even the campiness of the 60s Batman series, but the whole thing is very self aware so that's why it works so well and the moments that require it.

Hence its nerdy. I hate Self Awareness.
Self-awareness is great. Ever read any Batman comic ever? There's plenty of self-awareness from plenty of Batwriters.

Self-Awareness only serves to take me out of the story. It KILLS the immersion. It ruins the Fantasy.

There is a reason Self-Awareness should only stay in Comedies or comedic focused things like Spaceballs.

I mean in Kingdom Come Batman made a comment that when Superman suddenly left he said "So that's how that feels like" it was amusing but still the fact that I knew about the whole trope of Batman making sudden vanishments only takes me out of the mood.

But to be fair, that was more subtle and in-universe than the LOUD NOISE that is Deadpool.
