Master of turkeys, Bernard Matthews, has gone to the great meat processing plant in the sky, it would seem.

Your thoughts? Judging by the vid on the link I gave, it certainly seems he had a marked effect on the turkey meat industry in Britain at least. I definitely fondly remember turkey dinosaurs.

For the conspiracy nuts. Is it not odd that he should pass on so close to thanksgiving?

I saw this earlier today on facebook. The first thing I saw was: "but who is going to make the turkey drummers now?" followed by about 15 responses of "dude, he retired years ago"

It is sad. Bernard Matthews always reminds me of turkey drummers!

Sorry, that was just me typing strangely. If it offends you so, I can change it. It would seem he was only particularly known within the UK.

Aye, I heard about this on the news this morning. May he rest in peace. Liked the products they produced and I hear the fellow was a down to earth kind of guy.

He truly was a giant and trailblazer in the meat industry, and his products at school made me the man I am today. Unhealthy (I am typing this one handed while I eat a giant bag of Bacon rashes). It's a shame he died, but he left a lasting impact on generations, and in the end that is all a man can ever do.

Thanks to Jamie Oliver (may his name be forever linked to Douchebaggery) the current generation of Kids will not get to know the joy of Turkey Drummers.

I'm going to the shops tonight and honouring his memory by eating Turkey Dinosaurs.

It wouldn't be my choice of apocalyptic legion of doom, but to each their own.

OT: Seriously, unfortunate, but I didn't knw about him either.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Jamie Oliver is an utter prick.

Sorry, that may be in bad taste. Turkey drummers FTW!
Badum tish.

I confess though, I did a small giggle.

I'm not offended, just befuddled.
I'll paraphrase what I got from the video somewhat, in that he changed the position of turkey meat in the UK from a rare christmas treat that you had to work megahard for (a weeks wage worth) to something commonplace enough to be cheaply available all year round. That was where I dreamed up that quirky title from.

If he wasn't already a smug bastard with his cookery show; then his quest to fix school dinners sure cemented his dickishness with school kids everywhere by replacing the tasty and cheap (if unhealthy) food with expensive, and horrible healthy crap.

though he tried to do the same in America and they basically told him to fuck right off. Which is what Tony Blair should have said to him when he came to visit like some sort of vegetable related Moses.

I'm sorry but....Who is this guy?
Ah well, Requiescat in Pace and all that.
He founded and ran a large franchise of successful Turkey farms in the UK and then produced various Turkey products which are very popular, if a bit low market. His processed frozen processed turkey products are the staple of every child's diet during their formative years, and, until a few years ago, what they ate at school as well.

A popular product of his is the Turkey Dinosaur

Meh, the guy made an empire out of battery farming. I'm neither upset nor elated at the fact that a successful businessman with questionable morals has died in old age.

Ah thank you. I'm from Ireland, and everyone knows how retarded other-abled the Irish are.
So long as the Irish keep making Guinness, I have no particular antipathy towards them.
