Roose Bolton's actor deserves some props, dude's got the sociopath thing down.

It'd be easier to just list the characters I don't like.

Fucking Shae.

But if I had to pick a favourite actor, I'd probably have to go with whoever plays that ginger wildling girl that Jon Snow hangs out with.
Shae's actor is literally just some porn star they found. I have absolutely no idea why they thought that would be a good idea. Not that the writing for her is much better.

When it comes to actors making me care more about characters than I did in the books, I'm picking Jerome Flynn as Bronn. He's got a bit role and has basically disappeared for now, but he nailed the cynical sellsword attitude to perfection.

Trying to avoid what other people have said, Jorah Mormont is a stellar character, and I'm glad they're toning down the
romantic angle between him and Dany.
I don't know where the casting director finds all these grizzled men to play these grizzled roles but she/he is doing a fine job.
Also the "action movie" fight scene starring him, Grey Worm and Daario McDouche was one of the coolest scenes in the show, imho.

But yeah, by far GoT has some of the best casting I've ever seen. All the Lannisters (especially Tywin and Tyrion) are exceptional actors, and I've never been bored at really any point.

Oh yeah, I also love John Bradley as Samwell. He's adorable.

Charles Dance, without a doubt for me. He just has this overpowering pull towards him and steals every scene he's in. Plus that authoritarian voice is perfect.

Best Casting: Brienne of Tarth, they got so lucky here, seriously how many giant blonde semi-masculine female actors are there?. Let alone good ones.

Worst Casting: Robert Arryn, the kid playing him is too alive and to healthy acting.

Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth stands out to me as completely owning that part. On the flip side I'm not too fond of Ciran Hinds as Mance Rayder both in appearance and portrayal. I thought he would have been a younger wandering bard type instead hes another grizzled warrior that would have made for a good Qhorin Halfhand.

Shes actually a bit more than that shes been in her fair share of German films and won their equivalent of an Oscar twice. I think its the direction they took making Shae actually be in love with Tyrion and acting the way a modern day woman in love would act that is causing people to dislike her.

Agreed, though I wouldn't nominate him since his part is so small. But the post-red wedding scene in the season 3 finale made him rise instantly to one of my favorite characters. The man is just so cool and composed at all times, plus his voice makes me swoon.

But I wouldn't call him a sociopath. I see him more as a northern equivalent to Tywin Lannister: unrelenting, harsh, opportunistic and ruthless.

I am frankly AMAZED that he managed to carry Tywin through season 2 with the character's dignity intact after the fucking abomination that was the "Lovable Grandpa Lannister" arc.

What the fuck were the showrunners thinking.
I'm frankly quite surprised that you think that. IMO those scenes were exactly what made Tywin such a likable character and actually better than in the books (again, IMO). Even Dance himself has said that those scenes help us see a bit behind Tywin's public face and learn more about his motivations. In the books you never really get that.

And to all complaining about Shae: read the books and then tell me with a straight face that you'd rather take that version of the character instead. Sibel Kekilli's version is far from perfect, but at least she feels like she has some part to play, instead of being
some annoying naive young chick for Tyrion to occasionally stick his penis in and mope about how he fears losing her.

Thats as correct as saying the actor of Supermans Father-in-Law in Man of Steel is just some porn star they found.

1. Charles Dance as Tywin. Much like Alan Rickman's Snape, Dance's Tywin is arguably better than the actual Tywin..
I'm not sure if he's my favourite casting but I will agree that Dance's Tywin is much more... I don't know... Interesting, I guess. I loved the scenes he had with Arya.
Yeah, and as a nitpick, I like his character's appearance in the show much better than his in book description.

Shaved head, except for weird blonde mutton chop things.

This (though the fan art is exceedingly well made):

Sucks compared to this:

OT: Jon Snow would definitely be my pick.
Me and my dad always call him count dooku by the way he acts.

It's just a little game but we always love him. Personally I love Tyrion more. Arya is also one of the best child actors I've ever seen.

1. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion. Honestly, fantastic performance. Was always my favourite character in the books, brings it to life almost perfectly in the show.
2. Natalie Dormer as Margaery. Now, I haven't seen most of season 3, but the bits I've seen, she's dominated every scene she's in. Not only is she ridiculously beautiful (Which is fitting to what the character's supposed to be), but I swear she has the most expressive face on planet Earth, and is simply a joy to watch.
3. Jack Gleeson as Joffrey. He's just so fantastically hateable. I honestly can't even begin to imagine a better portrayal of Joffrey. I don't think a film or TV series has caused me to hate a character so much, ever. It matches how much I hated him in the books, and that's no easy feat.

...and in the worst...
Kit Harington as Jon Snow. It's not the guy's fault. It really isn't. I blame it on the direction. But oh, dear, what have they done to Jon? Turned a smart, capable guy into a bumbling idiot who bitches and moans his way through the world. I hear he gets better further into Season 3, but for now I just can't stand this one.

For worst casting, even though I love the guy as an actor, I'm going to have to go with Kit Harington as Jon Snow. Don't get me wrong - he plays Jon amazingly and is perfect for the role...

Except that he looks exactly like my cousin. Exactly. Put them beside each other with the same hair, and you could not tell the difference.

Which means I can't have a little crush on TV-Jon like I do Book-Jon.

Instead, I have a TV crush on Charles Dance.

I haven't read the books, but from what I've read of the characters bio's, I find all of the characters pretty well casted.

I wouldn't of have thought anyone else in their roles however.

Just about everyone nails their role. The only mismatch I can really think about isn't even the actor's own fault: Bran grew up too fast :)

Jaime as best.

Asha and Roose tie for worst. Asha was supposed to be a lot more better looking than what we got and Roose doesn't look anywhere near how he's described in the books.

I'm a fan of pretty much the whole goddamn cast. The actors make me love and hate the characters. I would say the idea of bad casting would be something that doesn't stick with me or sticks in an odd way.

Whoever is playing Bran Stark doesn't really get me. I don't feel much for his story. Maybe because he's a "child actor", but even the child actor playing Rickon makes me believe he's some kid with an unlucky family. Him, and whoever who's playing Shae. I get her character. I get that the actress playing brings some sort of fire to the character. However, something feels off about her acting. Maybe...Just Maybe... It's just me.
