Honestly had no time to look through the whole thread, but just in case:

Fahrenheit (a.k.a. Indigo Prophecy) had 1 bad plot twist following the other continuously from start to finish :/

For me it was Final Fantasy 7. When Aris dies. Seriously, I had enough Phoenix downs to create my own stuffed Phoenix!

When Fallout 3 forced you to kill yourself (or Lyons) despite giving you three radiation immune companions (Fawkes, Charon and the robot). Fawkes actually told me suicide was my destiny and he wouldn't interfere with it - despite that he could have prevented anyone from dying with no risk to himself.

What the fuck, Bethesda?
I also have to agree with this. Especially if you have a science skill of 100 and the robot perk. Why can't I just reprogram him?

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I had maxed out (85%) rad resistance, and just on a lark stood in there for half an hour, and just got bored with about 150 rad aways still in my inventory.

Fallout 3 pissed me off because the game denied it's own logic. It's okay when a game doesn't make sense because it's unrealistic, as long as it has some sort of logic. Fallout 3 seemed hellbent on denying the very rules it created. Examples include: The enclave can make the the most advanced weapons and armor, and have a crazy computer leading them but can't guess or hack a 3 digit passcode. The whole business at the end where you can have mounds of rad-x and rad-away, plus a companion who's very purpose IN THE GAME is to walk through radiation so you don't have to, and you still have to die from rad poisoning.

does anyone else realize that the reason behind fawkes not helping you at the end..is because by cleansing the water..you would be also killing off all of the mutants?

i dont think he'd want to do that to his own kind...plus it would mean later on he would die as well...so..yeah

good: Braid oh and by the way this is a spoiler so don't read if you do not want to know I didn't understand in the beginning but apparently Braid was about the Manhattan Project you know the Atomic Bomb. Well World 1 the epilogue talks about a bunker which is a bomb bunker. The princess is literally the bomb and when shes trying to run away its in tim's mind to stop activating the bomb. That's why in the beginning you're in a room with all the buildings on fire. and the princess you are chasing is basically you're stalking her because of your nature to observe things as a scientist. @_@ im dizzy. yeah it hurt my head too.

Bad: Well not really but when in the beginning of Halo 3 Master Chief is alive. i really can not think of anything else

Best twist: Andrew Ryan isn't actually dead in Bioshock. Nobody's quite figured this out yet, but HE can use the Vit-A-Chambers too.

Worst twist: Xenosaga Episode III. KOS-MOS is Mary Magdaline?

...

Who the !@#* cares!?

the new Prince of Persia - SPOILER ALERT (i don't know how to do the box thingy)

you spend the whole game trying to imprison the god of darkness then you just let him out to bring the chick back from the dead.
sex > the safety of the world
I could have made that ending work with one additional line of dialogue.

She wakes up, looks at the Prince, and murmurs "Why?" (just like in the game).

He picks her up and says "I have a choice too, and there has to be another way."

THERE! You've just given him a motivation to undo everything he has just done.

The big problem with POP is that due to the "non-linear" progression of the levels, the relationship between Prince and Elika never develops into something that you feel like he'd be willing to sacrifice to maintain. There is something to be said for linearity.

However, on repeated playings, if you *do* play the worlds in the proper order (with the concubine being the last boss, in fact I'd say you'd go Hunter, Alchemist, Warrior, Concubine) there is a definite relationship development that makes sense. Whatever you do, for the story's sake, play through the concubine's levels LAST.

Wait, Kos-Mos is a robot prostitute that marries the messiah? No wonder jesus didn't have kids.

If already mentioned, sorry for the reinteration, but you may want to put a label that the thread contains spoilers for the lesser of intelligence of the forum. The last time I explained a plot, the guy asked for me to spoil it, then got angry that I did...

Anydangway, I thought the Gears2 sub-plot that worms were sinking the cities was silly.
Jon is an alien.

You know, I thought about that. Really, do they ever explain how none of the other baddies come back from the dead? I mean, really: Dr. Steinman, Sander Cohen (if you killed him), Andrew Ryan, even Frank Fontaine. If you can come back from the dead, why can't they? Especially Andrew Ryan: he was one of the ones who invented it. Come on.

One of the worst twists I can think of was in Crysis: Warhead. The slow reveal of the story between Psycho and his pilot buddy, only to find out that the pilot was once up for becoming part of the same squad as Psycho and Nomad? Was there really a point for that? No one cared about him anyway.

I didn't like the new Prince of Persia plot twist...

SPOILER!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!

You go through the whole game... going to every damn fertile ground and healing it to trap the big bad guy then at the very end you release the bad guy just to save the woman.

You could have just cut out the middle man with just you and the woman running away together... to find the donkey.

Where you find that you aren't having flashbacks, but the flashbacks are actually the present and you're having a twisted vision of the future.
I didn't know anybody else played that game. This is the first of the "what a twist!" threads that i've read where i wasn't the first to mention it. That entire game was just one gigantic plot twist. It was awesome...I should buy it...I think i'll do that. I rented it, and beat it twice before i had to return it. I do that often. What would have been sweet is if you start a new game on the save file, and you get to keep all your epic powers. During the snow level that you get the ability to lift people, i hardly used any bullets. I just threw everybody off the conveniently placed cliffs. Also, it took me a bit to notice, but during the final battle, you get a really big buff to your psychic powers recharge speed.

"You are the child of my makers, inheritor of all they left behind, you ARE forerunner, but this ring, is MINE" Great quote from a great story. God knows they're gonna make a fourth... I'm just curious how the story will go on from there.

Fallout 3 was fun but with a very VERY disappointing ending

And then, John was a zombie.

Seriously, though. Braid has at least two moments that turned the story on its head for me--the end of World 6 and the final level. Those were really good plot twists.

Worst: In Far Cry 2, when the enemy uses its clairvoyant powers and discovers that you will eventually lead to their demise, after which they shoot you on sight.

Best: Fire Emblem 7 when the ice dragon came flying up to eliwood and he kills it only to find out it was Ninian (about 5 readers probably know what I'm talking about)
Worst: Sheiks a woman? No shit really?

The Vit-A-Chambers were made specifically FOR Ryan. He's the ONLY one who can use them. Or at least so he thinks. If you find the right recording you find out that the genetic key system is really imprecise and anyone remotely similar to Ryan can use all the same stuff he can--including the Vit-A-Chambers. Ryan let himself get killed knowing full well he'd pop up on the nearest streetcorner again.

Portal has the best ending ever.. even though its just some text and a song.. "the cake is a lie" laughed my ass of when the ending came..

but storywise i must give a holler at Metal Gear solid 1..
