As there's a topic about worst boss fights, I thought I'd start a topic about what you guys think is the best boss fight.

For me, it's probably Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid. "Moving" your controller, blacking out the screen with Hideo in the corner, controlling Meryl and looking through his eyes when in first person mode.

On a slightly more retro note, how good was fighting Seven Force in Gunstar Heroes? Mental level, followed by a boss that has 7 modes, each with its own unique characteristics.

Tough choice

Psycho Mantis. Hands down my fave boss ever.

"Change the controller to port 2 so he can't read your mind!"

Cheers Colonel, that advice will go with me to my grave.

Does WoW counts? I really liked Shade of Aran before it got too easy.

Best boss battle?

Either;

Jecht from FFX (complete with awesome rock theme)

or

Lavos. 'Nuff said.

I'd have to say either the fight against Metal Gear Ray as Rex in MGS 4, or in MGS 3 the fight against the end, I just loved how long it could last

Umm probably Morpheel from twilight princess. it was easy but it was cool how your finishing move was stabbing your sword into his eye and twisting around. EPIC

Though its fairly unheard of, I'm gonna say Kojira along with most of the other bosses from Destroy All Humans! 2

It was the only good game in the series..

Vergil from Devil May Cry 3. All three fights were exceptionally fun, and fairly well led into.

Or the first two Albert Wesker fights from RE5. Not because they were particularly outstanding on their own, but because playing them co-op was HILARIOUS. I've never yelled at my roommate so much as then.

anything in monster hunter games because most other boss fights dont actually involve any fighting or skill

The boss battle at the Shaman Village trial in Golden Sun: Lost Age was damn fun. Doing that awesome puzzle test thingy that where you have to remove equipment at the end of each room, double if you come second, that was incredibly inventive. And fighting the Karst and Agatio on top of the Jupiter lighthouse was pretty cool as well. Can't wait for the third game on the DS.

The various K.ROOL boss fights at the end of DK64 for good fun.

And fighting the boss at the end of Sector Y on Lylatwars (Starfox 64) was cool. Could have been so much better though, were it not so painfully easy.

I'll admit some boss fights require no skill (Fable), but there are some boss fights that require some skill to defeat them. For example Tabuu in SSBB. Need some skill there

Tbh, there are many very spectacular bossfights in wow. Few games can match that.

Any of the what I call "Duel battles" in Ninja Gaiden 1/2 such as Alma,Doku,Alexia,Genshin, they were all fast paced high intensity fights that were awesome.

Also any of the Collosi battles in SoTC for the epicness are creativity.

Hell yeah, that was an amazing fight. On the higher difficulties it became so immersive.
I also loved the fact that he was purely testing you, and completely reluctant to kill you.
Liquid Ocelot at the end of MGS4 was brilliant too, because it summed up my feelings about the ending. A sense of completion but also tired desperation.

I also love the final battle with Queen Larsa in Mushihimesama Futari, but that's to do with my gaming masochism.
