I've been really interested in musical comedy lately and I have been following quite a number of comedians.

My favorite has to be Bo burnham (http://www.youtube.com/boburnham) followed by the Flight of the Conchords.

Stephen lynch is okay, while Tim Minchin is okay too. Jon Lajoie uses a lot of software, but he's funny too.

Who are your favs?

Tim Minchin! I actually love him. Well, not really, but he's brilliant. Flight of the Conchords are also rather good. I've only listened to a few of Stephen Lynch's songs, I don't really find them that funny.

Yeah 'Yakety Sax' screams comedy to me. It's just a funny song even though it has no words.

Anything by the Monty Python team. Specifically The Philosiphers Song, Lumberjack Song, Accountancy Shanty and Every Sperm Is Sacred.

Ever heard of The Mighty Boosh?
That wins in terms of music & laughter.
Crimp is far superior to any form of comedic music. See that story all the way back there? You're at the end of it.

Does the Soundtrack to Benny Hill count, if so that, oh god that.
I was thinking about Benny Hill's chasing tune, but I guess that's not what the OP is looking for.

Well yeah Stephen Lynch's songs become pretty generic if you listen to a few of them.

Why has nobody mentioned Weird Al or Tom Lehrer yet? Lehrer's just as funny now as he was in the sixties and in the sixties he was probably the greatest satirist alive.

Indeed, I'm contemplating on whether I should see Tim when he comes to Melbourne

Frank Zappa had some good stuff, his song Flakes is hilarious. DA Vinci's Notebook wasn't to bad either.

My vote goes to Bill Bailey, if for no other song than the Chris DeBurg p**s take "beautiful ladies"

Anyone who can get the word 'clemancy' into a song gets gold as far as I am concerned. Beyond that he is actually an incredibly talented musician who is also very funny rather than a comedian who can bag out a tune.

He's classically trained so pieces where he "finds" cockney musical motiffs in classical music is not only hillarious (if you know what cockney music is) but brilliantly executed.

I do thing flight of the concords are funny and those guys from SNL who did 'Jizz In My Pants' but for an all round performance (and the ability to do a Chaucer Pubb Gag) Bill Bailey is the king of Comedy Music
