I'm looking to become one of those people that posts my gaming footage on YouTube. Because there aren't enough of them, right?

I'm looking for a good device to capture my footage. I've been looking at this Hauppauge HD-PVR thing and I see it's all through component cables. That's fine with me, since full 1080p hd isn't necessary for YouTube.

Now, I'm kind of a tech noob so let me just ramble this out.

My TV doesn't have the RGB component ports in the back of it, well actually it says RGB PC Component but I don't think it's the same. It does have 2 HDMI ports and one set of the Yellow/White/Red AV ports.

I'm wanting to record footage not only from newer stuff like the 360, but also going back to the SNES and N64, so I need something that can do that with ease.

Any help I can get is very much appreciated.

Hiho. For the newer generation, I can recommend the TV Card AverTV CaptureHD that I used and still use as well. Installed into your computer it has HDMI access and all that stuff so it can be directly plugged into the ps3 and it is slightly awesome. I myself uzsed Fraps to record and VirtualDub to render and save (as Fraps captures without a codec thingie, so the files are a bit... well, huge) ut there certainly is other software out there for that like f.e. PlayClaw, though I never tried that one tbh.

I would link you a guide, but the only ones I have tested out myself are in German and I would imagine that those would be quite unhelpful :)

I recommend an emulator for snes/n64 games - as long as you actually still own the games in the physical form, it is not illegal to play them on your computer and definitely makes the whole recording process a lot easier.
