Dream Theater covered Master of Puppets. fucking awesome.
And Bullet for my valentine covered Crazy train. amazing covers.
Good picks, I also like Killswitch Engage's cover of Holy Diver by Dio.

BFMV did a pretty good Crazy Train cover.

Raintime did a excellent cover of Beat It.

Beautiful Sin did a really good version of The Departed by Helloween called Lost.

The Yngwie Malmsteen - Trilogy vinyl cover.

It's the only vinyl i own:

Oh wait... your talking musical covers... d'oh. Still this is pretty amazing.

One of my favourites is Hurt by Nine Inch Nails covered by Johnny Cash. It turns an angsty song that is probably the worst i have heard from NIN in to a beautiful emotional piece.
Angsty song... beautiful emotional piece. Reznor was so messed up when he made that album that every track in it is basically raw, unfiltered emotion. Johnny Cash took the song and made it his own. It's a fantastic cover yes but in my opinion the original kicks the shit out of it. *prepares for the torrents of abuse he is going to receive for that one*

Moving on, these are some excellent covers.

Black Flag - Damaged I and II covered by The Dillinger Escape Plan
Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown covered by the ever delightful Gallows
Black Flag - Fix Me covered and beaten to death by Dead Swans
enough Black flag
The Ruts - Staring at the Rude Bois made into a decent song by Gallows and Lethal Bizzle
The Kinks - Everybodys Gonna be Happy covered by Queens of the Stone Age
B52s - Rock Lobster covered by Peter Griffin in Family Guy

Also, if Oasis would just be honest about their blatant ripping off of Beatles songs I'd say those are all pretty good covers too.
While we're here. Bad covers: ANYONE who tries to do Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin or Wish you were here by Pink Floyd. Just leave them alone. You cannot better them.
