Simple question, what band do you think looks the best? This includes things such as masks, glasses, etc.. I have to say I love bands that are dressed uptight with shirt, jacket, and a tie (and it's fuckin' A if one of them is wearing a trilby). That's real style. The band that probably comes closest to that is Nitzer Ebb.

Also, In Flames, for this reason:

Any black metal band without corpsepaint.

You'd be suprised at how many don't wear it anymore. :p

Slipknot, hands down.

The only band whose masks have really been in synch with the kind of music they play.
Mushroomhead?

OT: I don't think "dressing up" really adds to bands in any way, I think it distracts from the music quite honestly. So I'm going to say Lamb of God, because the just dress normally.

Loads of bands do that. I think the costumes adds to the show and uniformity of the band.

Yes. Didn't they play an entire concert only in their briefs?
And the guitarist had a skeleton suit during their concert at Slane Castle a while ago (methinks that's where it was).
RHCP wins, then.

Back in the 80's/ early 90's they'd play with just a sock on thier cocks! And that was the bassist, Flea, who wore the skeleton suit at Slane, but yeahh, RHCP have always kind of been extravagant dressers, except for their guitarist, John, who always just kinda dressed normaly when he rejoined the band in '98

"Dressing up" migt not, but the masks are pretty genious due to the reason.

Wearing a mask makes it impossible for the audience to connect the music to a particular face and identity, thus works to eliminate the risk of fans thinking they like the music just because they recognize the performer.

Kind of how fans get mesmerized by Britney Spears because you ALWAYS see her fucking face in every video and every preformance, connecting the dots between her identity, life story and all that with the "music" she's preforming.

Showing the world your identity and letting the tabloids get ahold of your life story, values and the like is in my opinion way more of an attention grabbing spectacle than doing your best to stay as anonymous as you can and making your fans concentrate on the music and imagery you try to create. Something that Slipknot's been trying to do from the start.

They are way the fuck over the hill and yet still stylish. However I do think some gold denchers would be a better touch.

Not really, they'll just connect it to the masks, which are more recognisable than a face.

It's really easy to find information on any of the Slipknot members, plus they have the added controversy which comes with being in pretty much any influential metal band. This makes them, again, recognisable.

Showing the world your identity and letting the tabloids get ahold of your life story, values and the like is in my opinion way more of an attention grabbing spectacle than doing your best to stay as anonymous as you can and making your fans concentrate on the music and imagery you try to create. Again, not really. Corey Taylor and Jim Root appear in Stone Sour, completely unmasked, which destroyed any anonymity they may have had. Also, in the DVD which comes with All Hope is Gone, you clearly see everyone's face. The only you who's remained truly anonymous (to the best of my knowledge) is Craig Jones.

Yeah, I'll go with this.

Slipknot look cool and it matches their music.

It also (to me) doesn't look campy or stupid like most metal bands who dress up.
