The search bar. THE SEARCH BAR.
It was fun at first, but the developers just stopped caring after a few levels.

I wonder how long before the OP makes a run for it and joins the resistance, perhaps with a crowbar.

But on topic, I can't name one favorite game, so just to not be cliche I'll say Sly 2 Band of Thieves. The cel-shaded art and cartoonish noir atmosphere are brilliant, the stealth and combat are done well, the characters are well written and exaggerated for the tone of the game, and it's just great. One of the best games of 2004, really only bested by Half Life 2.

Not counting old games (which, actually, is a category that contains many of my favorites)? Well then, I would have to say every single game in the Orange Box as well as CSS. Valve is just amazing. Asking them to suck at making games is like asking the Foo Fighters to suck at making music. O_O

I must disagree that old games are naturally inferior. Super Metroid is as close to a perfect game as the world may ever see. Perhaps you are not old enough to remember the glorious SNES, but it is full of classics that are still fun to play. Seriously, pick a genre and it has a great game for it.

My 2cents...Anyway, welcome to the Escapist.

That's a stupid rule you have of no old games, moron. Anyway, saying, yet again, Jet Set Radio Future. By far the best Xbox game that no one bought.

I'd probaly be able to develop favoring for a particular X-box game if my piece of shit 360 actually let me play them. It handles each game differently but doesn't run any of them correctly (That "THis disc is unreadable" message is burned into my retinas) But a game I got really into when I was younger was Age of Mythology I hope thats not considered an "old" game because apparently I'm lying if it is.

Welcome to the Escapist!!!!
My favorite game of all time is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The story of that game and the game play just entertained me so much.

Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time or Super Mario 64 or Donkey Kong 64, anyways the good old N64 games always will have a place in my heart and I always feel nostalgic thinking about them. :( I miss being a little kid. :(

My favorite game of all-time is Persona 4. A fantastic murder mystery story with a great twist, characters you actually care about and a battle system that is fun yet challenging (and I enjoy my games challenging) seal the deal for me. But even then it has a fantastic soundtrack and extremely deep fusion system to top it all off. Best game ever? Yes.

But not best story. Molyneux once said that the greatest story ever told will be told in a video game. Well I think it has been and that story was Persona 3's.

I also enjoy Blazblue. I really think it's the greatest fighting game to come out in a long time. 12 characters is no big deal because they're all so varied. Plus the online is fantastic. I've maybe had 10 laggy matches in the 500+ games I've played. That's more than I can say for Street Fighter IV. It also has one thing that most fighting games lack. The story is actually interesting.

I like it, named my gamertag after one of the characters AND I still think it's on of the best JRPGs of all time
good story
good fighting
good characters
Oh come on. Can you honestly tell me that game had a good story? It was fun to play, but the story was incredibly stupid.
You have no right bashing someone else's choice unless you have the chutzpa to post your own favorite.

By the way, Dark Cloud.

That or Shadow of the Colossus.
