I like cutscenens were you hit the SEARCH button before you make a topic.
Come on now, you have to actually put effort in to saying that.
For example, if it's asking "Who's your favourite character in video games" you can say.
"I like Link" and make the word "Link" a link to the earlier thread (showing it was done before).

If it's not witty, you just end up looking like an asshole.

Anyway.
I happen to have a soft spot for the opening cinematic of GUN.
It's short, but it's also awesome.
a) I am an asshole. Sorry?

b) That was my first attempt to corret an unnecessary topic. I promise to improve.

Intro to Final Fantasy 8, it was so different to 7, the sound, the scenery, just brilliant.

Anything during Final Fantasy 8's Battle of the Gardens, that was just an amazing piece of story.

Most opening cutscenes to big budget games are fun to watch because they are setting up the game. Also, most cutscenes in the DMC series are either action packed, hilarious, or both, with a few notable exceptions.

I always loved the cutscenes from Ocarina of Time everytime you came across a boss. The suspense!
Talking about Zelda, I also loved the cutscene in the Wind Waker where the pirates get Link inside the forsaken fortress... by catapult.
The look on Links face just before they lauch him is priceless. And eventually he lands face first into a wall.

Oh and the openingcinematics of Beyond Good & Evil blew me away. Fantastic music in that scene.
That one shot of Jade and one of the orphanage kids doing yoga under that tree looking out on the sea especially.

There are some pretty good ones in Kingdom Hearts II but Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is just amazing when it comes to cutscenes. Hallway scene anyone?

Honorable mentions: The DMC series, Resident Evil 4, other MGS games, the God of War series, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams and Drakengard 1 & 2.

I'm gonna agree and say the opening of FFVIII also, as well as the scene in MGS2 where Snake comes to fight the Metal Gears in Tankers, dives over the missle and whatnot, and then ofc the scene I said before from FFIX.

Any cutscene at the end of a boss battle in Ninja Gaiden 2
That right there. The graphics are absolutely amazing. Of course I'm usually too busy giving the finger to the TV going "HAH! I beat you! eat it! WOOO!". ;)

Halo Wars

Hands down

Moving on

They're just so awesome and smooth especially the part with the spartans owning the elites.

I liked the Assassin's Creed cutscenes. I guess I was more interested in the story than dicking around in the game.

I'll say three:

Kingdom Hearts II - Sora Vs. Roxas. It was practically the only (or, if not the only, the longer) fight in a cutscene rather than in-game. It wasn't a earth shattering battle like some Dragon Ball Z wannabe, but you could point out the moments where the upper hand shifted from one combatant to another. Actually, the fact that this fight was a ctuscene instead of an actual boss battle caused great disappointment in fans, and the boss fight was included in the Final Mix +.

Metal Gear Solid 3 - The Shaggohog attack. This was SO a shout out to old James Bond flicks. What with the heroes fleeing in a motorbike, followed by some goons and the big bad in a HUGEASS tank on steroids? Rather, much more other cutscenes where shoutout to the old Spy movies, but this one takes the cake.

Persona 4 - The Main Character "rebirth", the awakening of Izanagi-no-Okami and the subsequent defeat of Izanami-no-Okami. Sure, there was gameplay mixed in the fray, but the battle portion between the rebirth and the defeat of the bigbad was a mere illusion, since you wouldn't lose at that point anyway. There I was thinking they couldn't pull the same thing they did on P3, and was in awe with how well they pulled it off.

A lot of the cut-scenes before the boss battles of Dead Rising I thought were pretty cool.

THIS. I agree with. :p That's a big part of why I loved Windwaker; Link's face was hilarious, in more ways than one. I'm also going to add here the scene in Twilight Princess, where Zelda is telling wolf Link what happened to Hyrule, before she reveals herself. Zant: "Storming ze castle!"
