My old 9800 finally keels over and dies, who to ask for advice? The Escapist! So what Graphics Card would you recommend for around £100 British limey pounds? My budget is fairly flexible btw and all I want is something considerably better than what I was originally using which should be pretty easy what with my last card literally not being able to run dx10.

There is a comparison of different graphics card on this site: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/graphics-cards,1.html

Sort gfx cards by price at an etailer, find one for £100, and compare it to the other ones on the chart at Tom's Hardware :)

For 100 I can't recommend much however I will recommended you get £40 more and buy an Nvidia 460 GTX which have been quoted many times as being the most efficiently powered card for cost/power.
I am getting one my self and would suggest buying a MSI version as they have two fans.
I will also warn you that you also need a powerful power supply so make sure its around the 500 watt mark.

Get a XFX hd6870 from overclockers.co.uk. It's £130 with two free games and a very solid upper mid range card :) Yes, it's £30 more than what you said, but it's really worth it and substantially better than any sub-£100 card.

If you really are stuck with a sub-£100 budget you're basically stuck with a gtx550 Ti, which is basically a dx11 gtx260: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-157-EA

Honestly, spend that extra £30 or so, you won't regret it.

Using a powercolor 6870 right now. Beautiful Card. Beautiful.

And the price wasn't too bad either. Might pick up another one when its price goes down futher (its $230 here in Australia)

Avoid the 550 series like the plague. a 460 would serve much better and be closer to your price target.

one such as this [http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=1914&subid=1830]

This is what i'm using:

yes it's about £40 over your price range but this card was fantastic for me. There isn't a lot of games you can't run on max settings and get atleast 30 fps.

I should warn you, This card needs roughly 600w PSU with ATLEAST 20+ on the 12v rail.

You checked PCCaseGear [http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=193_1164] for their 6870 offerings ($15-30 cheaper than ACO [http://www.computeronline.com.au])? The HIS 6870 IceQ X is $199 (plus S&H, but that's a given) from PCCG.

Nah, should have though. went through Ebay for all my PC parts. Though the $230 was the cheapest. Nearest one was $250.

Heh, yeah, I found PCCaseGear to be the cheapest place to buy parts from for system (though if you don't want a 2% surcharge for using your card, you can direct-deposit with them (though it takes a while to be done, it's easier than having to pay for them to process your credit/debit card).
