Contact Harvest was my favorite in the series, but Fall of Reach was the best of the others.

I really liked Contact Harvest, but Fall of Reach was really good as well.

Fall of Reach. I tried to read Contact Harvest, but a few chapters into the story I realized one thing: I really don't give a crap about Sargeant Johnson. The only good parts were the Covenant parts and everything else just seemed like work that I had to do to learn more about their races.

Fall of Reach. It is a prequel, and gives a fantastic few into the badass that is Captain Keyes.
Yes, this is totally true and I agree.

I liked how to really zero'd in on all the other Spartans as well. My favorite was Kelly, the really fast one. I'm hoping the game is like the book. :)

Fall of Reach.
If I remember correctly, the Chief deflected an oncoming missle by smacking it.

Plus it gives great insight on the early spartan II program, the UNCS's civil war, and Captain Keys a.k.a. Captain Badass.

I also liked Ghosts of Onyx.

So I'm not the only one that read the Halo books.

Good, maybe one of you can answer a question for me. In the Halo books, weren't the engineers pacifists? It's been a long time since I read the books, but I don't recall them trying to hurt anybody.

definately the fall of reach. Gave an amazing look into the backstory of master cheif and the other spartans. Dont think halo would be the same for me without having read it.

Well, they didn't instantly try to kill Master Chief in "First Strike", so maybe. They always seemed to be more interested in mechanics and repairs than fighting. Is this about that thing in ODST?

Yeah, it is. It just seemed weird that they were far more hostile in ODST.

Fall of Reach, despite the serious issues with no editor whatsoever.

The general issue with most game novels is that publishers know these things sell largely on brand-name alone, and as such don't put them through an editor (and if they do, the editor barely glances over the fucking thing). I remember that there was one paragraph in Fall of Reach where the author references a character who's not even onboard the dropship three times in a row... -_-;

Jumping on the Fall of Reach bandwagon, I've read them all and that was really the only one i enjoyed fully, The Flood wasn't terrible but 3/4 of the book was something I had already played the only parts I liked were the covenant sections, in fact all of other books with a covenant section I enjoyed just unfortunately the rest pretty much sucked
