Which is the best/most reliable?

For me yahoo has become a major frustration. Harldy any of my sms(text) messages go through and if they do it's hours later. I linked it into my facebook chat but it says people log off when they're still online and even people that actually log off still show up as online as well. I constantly have to keep relinking it with facebook because for no reason it will drop the connection.

Edit: Looking for one that will send a text message with little to no issues.

Pidgin or Skype are by far better than everything else, but Pidgin is slightly better than Skype. I'd go with that.

I've just always used Aim, because it's what I'm used to and only really use it to talk to a select few people. It's probably not the best...

To answer your question, Id go with Skype, but maybe not so much anymore now that it's owned by Microsoft...

Pidgin or Skype are by far better than everything else, but Pidgin is slightly better than Skype. I'd go with that.

Just tried Pidgin, its alright for cross service messaging but does it text? tried a couple test messages and never got a reply.

OT: I use Facebook chat a lot, probably because everyone I chat with has it.

Pidgin on linux or Trillian for windows.

Metaclient > standalone clients.

Skype beats out Steam by just a bit. File transfers are nice, but what I really like about Skype is that all my friends have it, so when Steam has some server issues, we just transfer over to Skype.

I use Raptr, it allows you to chat in-game. As well as link many of your other instant messaging friends list. Works for PSN, MSN, Yahoo, Xbox Live, Steam, Xfire, Gtalk, Facebook, ICQ, and AIM.

If I need to talk to someone in a microphone, I use Skype.
