What musical artist put on the best live performance?

They could simply sound really good live, or include some sort of stage show, or just a massive amount of pyrotechnics, whatever makes them great live.

Personally, my two favorites are:

Kamelot - They sounds really good live

Rammstein - Awesome stage presence and a lot of flame

I'll have to agree with Rammestein.

Also, Nine Inch Nails and Scar Symmetry sound even better live than they do in studio.

Out of what I've seen, Iron Maiden and Gallows. I've heard Dillinger Escape Plan are amazing too.

I've never actually seen a Live Band, except just locals playing down the pub. Am I really missing out on much?

The best live band that I've seen was Turisas, a viking metal band. They were the support act for Dragonforce and frankly they should have been the main act, Dragonforce was shite live.

Depends completely on the band, I normally just watch live (unedited) DVDs since nobody good has concerts near where I live. Until you get near Washington DC, Virginia isn't a normal stopping place for most of the bands I listen to...

Given the bands I've seen who'll get billions of fans going "these people!" I'm going to interpret the question as "best-performance-relative-to-popularity-of-band":

Bouncing Souls (seen at Leeds Festival 2006, BBC Radio 1 Tent)

The best band I have seen live are Fleetwood Mac. Simply amazing.

Close joint second - Bellowhead and 10CC

Yes. However, pub music is still live music. I have seen awesome bands in pubs (Stone Cold spring to mind, a prog rock four-piece who played a 10 min song using only percussion). Live music (done right) is the best way to experience this type of media. It is one of my favourite things (as a performer too). I try to see or play a gig a week if at all possible even if I can only make it down to a pub/club.

I completely agree, it doesn't help that they abuse studio editing so much...

Every bit of footage I have seen of Dragonforce live sounds like half of the actual music was prerecorded and the actual band is only playing bit parts. Compared to other power metal bands, it's really pathetic

The Offspring are really good live, Styx is good, Green Day is amazing (three or four hour concert.)

The only REALLY good concert I've ever been to, was the Disturbed concert on Metaltown.

So I guess Disturbed must be the best live band so far...
