As it says in the title, what are some of the best gaming memories you have had with mods? What were some of you awesome mod gaming moments?

I was pretty active in the early 2000 and did some texture work for Max Payne1 and later for 2. Both games had great support and there where lots of mods and a few total conversions. I'm not sure if there is a single site hosting the stuff but i do hope so. Kung Fu is one of the better known mp1 mods and it is outstanding work. The creator even get's mentioned in form of a movieposter in mp2. My pc gaming time is over for 8 years now. I would have to search up some more names but if you have the games i can only recommend to look for a site and dl the good mods.

Hmm, tough one.

Unreal4ever for the first UT was hilariously bizarre.

Cry of Fear for the first Half-Life made wonders with the GoldSrc-engine and has a nice, menacing presentation.

Currently I'm playing around with Project Reality for Battlefield 2. IMO, an ambitious attempt to bring a greater degree of realism to this game.

Playing Project M during my lunch hour at school this past year. We got a bit of a regular Smash club going with at least one crazy outcome per session. Add the polish of Project M on top of my ability to add custom skins for characters and we had some entertaining match ups. We had Eren Jaeger (Link) vs. Titan Annie (DK)

I think i can start with BG2, it was the first game i modded, so it is nostalgic! But there were some nice mods, like the Ascension mod, and there were some companion mods, and some mods that changed companions from the game wich were nice. I liked the ones who introduced a Thief, or even, one who made Nalia a Mage/Thief, instead of a Thief/Mage. One of the problems with the game is the lack of recruitable Thiefs.

The other nice mod experience? Well, Fallout 3. There were some mods that just made that game so much better than the vanilla, that was crazy. The New Vegas mods are cool as well, but in Fallout 3 they are really essential for me now.

Gekokujo for Mount&Blade: Warband.

I started from humble beginnings as a criminal child and ended up wandering Japan as a Biwa Musician. A few bandit run-ins later and I found that I was a decent hand with a staff and decided to try fighting Ronin. I remember being taken prisoner a lot so I decided to get some real experience by joining the local Daimyo's hatomato as an Ashigaru foot soldier. A few climactic battles later, I earned the right to be a Samurai. I gained enough pull with my Lord (Lord Oda) that I could claim a small town for myself as a minor lord. Later, I used my political savvy and wealth to grab a city of my own and all of the surrounding villages. I was the most powerful man in the Oda clan. Loved. Feared. Married to an ambitious wife. It was awesome!

Buckle yourselves in for a long story.

Back when I got my first job, I purchased a cheep Acer laptop from Wal*Mart, and picked up a copy of "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" from Best Buy. Got the game installed, and played for a couple hours, after I decided to look up some mods for the game. Well during my search I stumbled upon the Nexus, and after creating an account I went through as many mods as I could. Well I found the Diamond body for the women of the game, and I had also found BBB (Better Bouncing Breasts). After downloading and installing the mods I launched the game, started a new character and blazed my way though the sewers, and killed the bandits on the island across from the sewer exit.

Well here is where the funny part comes in; after I killed the two lady bandits, I looted their chest gear, after I exited the loot menu, what I saw was absolutely stupid, the models breasts stretched into the horizon. After a quick laugh I fast traveled to the Nord area of Oblivion, and when I looked at the mountains in the distance, I saw they were the same color as the bandits skin.

After closing the game, I went to the read-me file that was included with BBB, and I discovered I needed another mod to make it work.... Moral of the story: ALWAYS READ THE READ-ME!

I love the mods for Half Life 2 and Battlefield 2, to me they are probably the biggest highlight of modding done right.

Not saying that other mods suck or anything but there is a certain level of polish in some of the mods for Battlefield 2 (Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality) and variety in the Half Life 2 mods (Garrys Mod, Insurgence, SMOD Redux, that RTS one) that do make me always think of them (for a lot of other people I bet the Bethesda games take this place but I never really liked their core gameplay much and mods never really changed that).

The best moments are probably in Project Reality, its the closest I will have to an Arma game that is actually fun to play (the controls arent shit and the maps are interesting and detailed, working well in short and long distances combat), its so fun to be a spotter and trying to catch the enemy unaware of your presence.

The two mods that really stick out in my head were Action Quake 2 and The Opera for Half Life. The Opera has some really cool elements (loved the panic guns) but the wall running and rolling was awkward and clunky.

For hilarity value....the Yoda mod for Half Life provided some great laughs at LAN parties. For those unaware of the mod...Everyone played as Yoda, every gun was skinned as Yoda and subsequently shot Yodas. The sound files basically consisted of "Patience, Patience, Lower your weapon, I mean you no harm" and that classic yoda groan.
