--a total conversion of TES IV: Oblivion. If you want extra mileage out of Oblivion (especially now that Skyrim is out), this mod completely takes over the game and hands you a new world map, new lore, and new quests. The landscapes are handcrafted, it has its own original soundtrack, and it's fully voiced in German by professional voice actors. The English subtitles are also very good and easy to keep up with as you play. It's very impressive.

Trent Reznor soundpack for DººM³. Turns it from a Nerf match with spud-guns into an eerie, booming, shooter. Also it negates all the social politics which robbed us of the original soundpack in the first place.

original Half Life:

Halfquake trilogy - weird and sadistic, with a unique look. Definitely unlike anything I've played

Azure Sheep - it introduced some new gameplay features too, like healing your partners and stuff

Half Life 2:

Dear Esther - doh, of course it is awesome

Nightmare House 2 - cheap scares that are actually sometimes working. Also has a Yume Nikki reference which I found awesome
