First of all, I'm aware that thread with basicly the same topic was created about six months ago. It wasn't very succesful, but anyway, I dont't think that I'm going to hurt someone by making similar thread, so here goes.

Post a video (from youtube, dalymotion, w/e) with a song that you think has kickass guitar solo. Be it metal, rock, jazz, anything you like. It doesn't have to be "bestest evar", but just something that really got stuck in your head. Here are mine:

Mors Principium Est - Inhumanity
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AipaLbKnFPA
1:48-2:42
Just plain awesome. Really melodic and shows guitarist's virtuosity.

Deicide - Homage for satan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej4-5kT3_N8
1:33-2:28
I know that this song is going to condemned by most people by its title without even listening to it, but really, this is one of the catchiest solos I've ever heard, outro solo is great too. For those who managed to ignore all that anti-christian bullshit and enjoy the song, kudos :)

Scar Symmetry - Deviate from the form
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WAwU4uduCE
2:40-3:29
Wouln't sound so good without second guitarist blasting in the background, but still I really like it.

Here are mine, waiting for others to post some kickass stuff.

Good start leaper, welcome to the Escapist.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yPEewaalik 00:00 onwards. Guthrie Govans guitar playing is immense, and his note choice his really good in this song.

All time classic. Master of Puppets - Metallica. Solo at 3:36 and then again around the 5:00 mark. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA]

I don't meant to cause offence, but in my opinion Van Halen's work is lacking melody because he sacrifices it for speed. He's very good, no doubt there, but it's not necessarily the most memorable or best. Same goes for good old MAB and his double guitar.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpqM0PzwAGs from 3:44 onwards.

Phenomenal song in my opinion, and the guitar is just out of this world.
Admittedly, this is less of a solo and more of a jam type thing... but it gets my vote anyway as it's all about the guitar.
Also, there's a kickass little bass solo in there too.

EDIT - I recommend listening to it in it's entirety.

The guitar solo in "Highway Star" is one of my favourites and doe's the whole of "Classical Gas" count?

best solo is stairway (about 7:00 in i think)

the most memorable is freebird because it's like 6 minutes long and ridiculously complex

For a more recent song, try the Best Of Times by Dream Theater. It's a long song, but the solo at the end is spectacular.

Oh! And this!

Rebel Yell Acoustic. Because he doesn't have the electric guitar and therefore the 'ray gun' sound that we all love, Steve takes it a little differently on an acoustic guitar. Needless to say, it kicks ASS:

If there's one thing I really hate, it's random shred that sounds like nothing. So...

Not necessarily an act you'd expect to have a great guitar solo, but he got Paul Gilbert to do it and... well, it starts about 2:36, but from 2:49 to 3:13 is so good that I can't help grinning every time I hear it. Frankly I'm amazed that such a renowned shredder managed to restrain himself to create something impressive that sounds good within the context of the song.
