Hullo Escapists!

Recently, I've had new ending DLCs on the mind. And I've been wondering, why is it that Mass Effect 3 is the only one known for it when it was neither the first nor last to do it, and not even a very good 'new ending' DLC?

So, discuss what your favorite(s) is/are, and why.

To count as a 'new ending' DLC, the DLC in question has to have content that can *only* be seen/accessed shortly before the base game's original ending or during/after it. So while Mass Effect 2's Arrival DLC makes for a good ending for the game, since you can access it at any point after the halfway point in the story and it doesn't actually alter/add to the base game's ending, it doesn't count.

Mine is Dragon Age: Inquisition's Trespasser.

How the Base Game Originally Ends: You beat the big bad, everyone is happy, and someone ran off because who knows. (being vague on purpose)

How the DLC Changes It: Trespasser can only be accessed after the completion of the base game's story, once started you can't go back and mess around, as you jump forward two years. The fate of the Inquisition is up in the air, as its original purpose (defeat the big bad and stop the sky from being completely torn asunder) has long been fulfilled. The heads of state and church are getting nervous, as this massive army is still about and stands as a threat to them all.
However, you come to find a plot to drag all the nations into all out war, which isn't even the the worst thing going on, as
the Anchor is killing the Inquisitor, and Solas [who no one has seen or heard from] is out and about with plans to destroy the world and bring back the old elven one, and oh did I mention it turns out he's an old, super powerful elven god?

It's not all doom and gloom though, as you can catch up with your companions, and even marry some depending on who you romanced (CullenXFemMageTrevelyan for life!).

Borderlands DLC in general is really, really good. The first game's DLC was particularly good in that i provided a semblance of closure to the original game, as opposed to none at all.

Mass Effect 3's ending DLC, because it has Shepard throw a party at her new apartment with all her old friends after you deal with a rogue Cerberus operative and a rather...interesting Cerberus experiment.

...What? That's how the game ends. You save the galaxy and you throw a party. No, I don't want to listen to you and your lies! SHUT UP!!

In all honesty though, I think Dragon Age: Inquisition currently holds first place for me. Not only does is actually move the damn plot of the game (and the lore of the world) forward a huge bit--something the actual game forgot to do about half way through--it shows what I think Inquisition could have been. Tighter focus in areas, more banter between characters, closure for characters, and just an all around a cleaner, more polished experience. It's a pity the rest of the game couldn't be like this.

Second place goes to Tiny Tina's DLC in Borderlands 2. Yes, you can access right away, but you're going to get stomped. Plus, the game warns you that it's going to spoil the story of the game if you play this first, so in my book, that counts.

Diablo 3's expansion was pretty dope, seeing how you basically go from heroic badass to punching DEATH in the face.
All the extra content helps too, but I still enjoy Mathael over D3!Diablo as a final boss, he just looks so badass.

Mass Effect 3's Extended Cut was an ending DLC. To me however Trespasser for Dragon Age Inquisition was more of an expansion, a short one to be sure, in the vein of Awakening for DA: Origins.

However putting my pettiness aside I am going to agree on The Citadel for Mass Effect 3. It's a really fun mission, if a little silly, and Bioware poke some fun at the multiplayer with the ambient dialogue. Best of all though is the proof that Bioware remember just why people play their games. It's not for the pew-pew action, it's for the characters.

In terms of the ending you get in vanilla versus what it changes to, ya can't beat Broken Steel in Fallout 3 for me.

I especially like the ending to RoS...Tyrael coming to the realization that the PC has now proven they can not only wipe the floor with the Prime Evil - the most powerful demon that has ever existed - but also the Archangel of Death...one of - if not the - most powerful angels ever. Upon realizing this, he's all like "You know...if the Nephalim goes bad...we are all seriously fucked!" :3

As for Malthael vs FemDiablo...gotta say I like FemDiablo as a boss more. Malthael's fight was too straight-forward. I like how Diablo takes you to the Realm of Terror and makes you fight clones of everyone in the party.

Concept-wise, though, I'll agree: the Angel of Death is far more fitting of "The Rule of Cool" than FemDiablo.

I'm partial to Lizard Time: Wakeup (Dragon Age: Awakening). It was fun to have an entire chunk of overpowered endgame, even if they did strip down character interactions. (Warden Aeducan wanted to put some moves on Sigrun)

How amI the first one to say Fallout 3's Broken Steel, takes the stupid die or sacrifice an innocent even though Fawkes is stood tight THERE and chuckes it out a window. As a much larger impact on the world in general.

As great as Citadel is, it isn't an actual 'new ending DLC' as much as a lot of people pretend it is.

The Whistleblower DLC for Outlast was really damn good

It expanded on the ending and gave us the ability for Outlast II to be made

Thank God for Red Barrels :^)
