Best original soundtrack?

A lot of visual media has an original soundtrack, but which one do you like best?
the classical style of Star Wars? The hip hop of 8 mile?

i personally like the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. in fact i have it playing in my CD player right now. prior to this i never listened to jazz, but this has opened my eyes per se. although if anyone wishes to recommend anything similar please do.

anyway, what is your favourite soundtrack from a film, TV show, anime?

John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson-Williams, Frank Klepacki. Klepacki is the odd man out in that list, and he still gets my vote. He is immensely talented with such a wide variety of instruments and he blends orchestral music with rock and techno so well it sounds like it belongs. Famous mostly for the C&C franchise, he also made the awesome soundtrack for Petroglyph's Universe at War, which was the high point for an otherwise mediocre game.

I love the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. It's fantastic! I love M.I.A in the first place, but combine her with hindi music and it's AWESOME

I also love the Silent Hill soundtracks

and I've been listening to the Repo! the Genetic Opera one recently

Cowboy Bebop is my favorite soundtrack too; I've made it a big part of my Warhawk playlist: very fitting. The Akira soundtrack is very cool too but I'm more partial to jazz.

I'm gonna have to agree on the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. It's just fantastic.

For games I can easily recommend the soundtracks for Persona 3 and Persona 4. Shoji Meguro really knows what he's doing. Blazblue and Guilty Gear have some great music as well. Daisuke Ishiwatari really knows how to compose great guitar parts.

Anime besides Bebop that I thought had great soundtracks include Code Geass, Gundam 00, K-On! and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Ur right about Jen Connoley but still who doest like David Bowie in that movie he pretty much sold it! great songs all around tho.
