There can be only one - Charizard, who's only bane was that insipid Cloyster.

There are a few cool-looking ones in the new series, but that isn't enough to make me buy a DS just to catch 'em.

Sure why not.

Although I probably played way more Red/Blue/Yellow, I think Gold/Silver are my favorite, did everything just about right.

Favorite Pokemon from R/B/Y Articuno. No nickname.

Kakuna. Harden. Harden. Harden.. etc etc

First off, and I may be portrayed as an arrogant dick for this but, "Pokeymans" is a term used by 1) parents and other adults who have absolutely no idea what Pokemon is, much less how to say it properly, and 2) people who sarcastically refer to the stupidity and ignorance of the first group. Anyone who knows that it's said Po-ke-mo-n like the Japanese (or Po-ki-mon, as is more common) but say Pokeymans anyway need to watch the banned Porygon episode, forcibly if necessary.

Ranting aside, Silver/Gold is my favorite, first because it introduced Steel and Dark types (among the best ever), and second because it improved over the original in a myriad of ways, such as:
Night/Day mechanic,
100 new Pokemon, while retaining access to most of the original 150,
Better graphics (though that's more a product of the hardware),
Chance to both visit new towns and revisit old favorites, with noticeable changes (Cinnabar Island, anyone?).

There's a bunch more to it but it's noticeable in that, with the exception of the better graphics bit, both Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl tried to make improvements with little success. The option to capture all 450(!) Pokemon from all 4 generations in D/P is the kind of challenge that Yahtzee would say "is for unemployed psychotics and Koreans."

To sum it up, Silver/Gold/(and by association Crystal) were the peak of the franchise and now they're sliding downhill.

As for favorite Pokemon, Houndoom, because he's as close to a zombie dog as Pokemon will ever get.

pokeyman is also a really freaking irritating way to say it / type it and makes you look dense. Make the joke and then stop it.

Blastiose; and I always have to name my Squirtle "Shellshock" because I'm cool like that.

I've play the first 2 gens and they were good, but I skipped the advance ones to play better at the time. Now I got diamond 2 weeks ago and it kicks the asses of the older ones. It's a far better game and is a good game for the nintendo ds. As for my fav pokèmon in, I can't judge so soon, but it is good to see some of the older ones again and the new crowd too.

I chose the Fire starter in Emerald. It's the chicken creature whose name I forget because I gave him a far better name.

"Hellcock."

1st. Generation: Ditto
2nd. Generation: Totodile
3rd. Generation: Shedinja
4th. Generation: Torterra

I never had any liking of the now rather large pool of legendary pokémon.

Totodile? I never got into him, regardless of me always choosing water starter pokemon. Everytime I saw his final evolution's name I read 'refridgerator.'

I loved Vaporeon, always named Cyrano.
Yeah, I was a weird kid... reading French literature and playing pokemon.

I can never recall which game was which, but I loved them all anyway.

I liked the Red to Gold series of Pokémon; my favorite Pokémon was Abra because it just looked lazy, which I thought was cool.
I never really gave any of my Pokémon nicknames, apart from Blastoise*; I called him "Tiny".

First series was the best, no question, and Snorlax pretty much owned everything, although Tauros was also pretty badass. If I had a Tauros, I always had to name it Angus for the obvious reason, as well as the fact that a Scottish bull would be the meanest thing since evil sliced bread.
