Seriously though, it's the pinnacle of the platformer genre.
The graphics are timeless, and beautifully designed. The world is huge. The music is the best you are gonna hear on the SNES. The controls are PERFECT. The upgrades to your abilities happen with a natural incline of difficulty to match. The enemies are varied and interesting without becoming impossible.

The only gripe I can muster is that it is a little easy, maybe a bit confusing and backtracking but never really hard.
Yes its easy; we mastered it years ago, but at the time Draygoon (until you figure out some tricks..) and Phantom (learn to never use super missiles) were the bane of my existence.
