Don't go iphone, there way to common (at least in the uk they are), dunno what the galaxy is like (my housemate has the galaxy portal which is terrible, slow and sluggish), I recommend the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc you can get it for the same price as an iphone on contract and it's brilliant, for basically everything HD looks stunning on it (it rivals that of my 3d monitor) only real bad point about it is the battery life sucks if you constantly run the wifi (like me).

the iphone is the iphone? not trying to sound offensive here, but what kind of argument is that?

In the one line you gave makes a clear case that the S2 is the better choice, and is cheaper to boot. Even putting my deep hatred of anything apple aside, the S2 sounds like a clear winner on pretty much all fronts.

I kind of depends.
Personally, I consider the Iphone superior in terms of avaible apps and how the ecosystem is handled (it can be restrictive, but it is also reasonably well maintained and cared for).
In term of the actual hardware and OS ?
The Samsung, hands down. It´s a REALLY good phone.

Are you fucking retarded? You've just said 'X is better in every way, but Y is Y'.

Hmmmmm tough choice this one!

(imo, Droid X is the best smartphone, but there's a few that are all pretty decent. You seem not to want a smartphone as much as a fashion accessory though so I'd recommend you get yourself an iPad 2.)
Cool story bro.
Why are you trying to wind me up?

I have the Samsung Galaxy S and am very happy with it. Even with the keyboard which I hardly ever use (I use Swype), I don't think the phone is too big. I've found plenty of great apps too.

I know its unhelpful to suggest ANOTHER phone, but the HTC Desire HD is, in my humble opinion, pretty hard to beat in phone terms. Internet access, HD graphics, excellent customisation (Literally ANYTHING in the phones screen can be moved to anywhere) and great links to social networking sites.

But the battery sucks cow pat. It lasts for a day, then needs recharging XD

I love how the only reason you can give for wanting an iPhone is the fact that it's an iPhone. Shouldn't that tell you something?

As for the best. I doesn't really matter much. Six months into your contract something much better will come out anyway.

I'd recommend the Galaxy S II - it's the most powerful phone currently on the market, has great battery life and a buttery smooth U.I, and is cheaper than the iPhone 4. It'll also remain current a for good deal longer than the iPhone as, if Apple stick close to their regular release cycle, the iPhone 5 should be coming out quite soon.

The Android Market just hit 200,000 apps, and Google have started to upgrade its search functionality, so finding quality apps should get much easier. On top of that, thanks to a recent deal between Google and a bunch of phone manufacturers and carriers (including Samsung), the Galaxy S II is guaranteed to remain up to date with the latest version of Android for at least the next 18 months.

Basically, the Galaxy S II is pretty much the best phone money can buy at the moment so, if I were you, I'd run down to my nearest phone store and pick one up while I still can.

(Sent from my iPad, just to prove that I don't have an anti-Apple bias or anything.)

The iPhone is my favorite, but only because Apple has a convenient and popular software and media distribution service.

Yeah, what this guy said.

The only downside of the Galaxy S II is it's rather unimpressive camera (Well in comparison to the iPhone 4 and SE Xperia Arc).

I sell phones. I get a lot of people upgrading thier iPhone 4s to Samsung Galaxies. Niether is by any means the best, but personally I would go for the Samsung because it's a lot more durable, has better features, and I prefer Android to AppStore.

I'm a RIM fan though and will stick with the Torch. Best phone hands down, for me.

I would recommend the Galaxy S II. My brother has all Samsung phones as did I until recently (until I got my Blackberry) and the battery life on them is great, and they are reliable. A friend of mine has the iPhone 4 and he has had no end of problems with it, from the short battery life, to it calling random people. I have not heard of any problems with the Samsung Galaxy and it might be a better idea to go with the more reliable option (at least IMO.

But at the end of the day, you are the one who has to live with the phone every day. Go with the one you want the most as then, you won't always be regretting not choosing the phone you really want.
