Though Silent Hill is a really, really good choice

Unless you mean outside video games, in which case I'd say Satan.

The Elder Gods are not Villains. To be a villain requires an antagonistic relationship, the Elder Gods however simply do not care. We are beneath their notice, little more than ants beneath their feet. And as such they care absolutely nothing for the trivial existence of humanity.
Nonsense. I cite Luther from SO3.
SO3? Luther? I've no clue who you're citing.

I'm talking the grand scheme of things here, I'm talking the Necronomicon and Nyarlathotep, of ancient beings of such vast incredible power that we tiny, frail little humans cannot even conceive of their magnificence and whom if we were ever to even look upon we would go irrevocably mad! Of the Elder Gods and the Great Old Ones, and how either one or the other shall be the inevitable demise of humanity.

That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.

-Quoted from the Necronomicon.

True with the Elder Gods, but some of the Great Old One's are truly Villainous and one can hardly fault someone for confusion between the Elder Gods and the Great Old Ones (hence my assumption that Sonicron was referencing Cthulhu.)

Exempli Gratia: Y'golonac
Some say the Elder Gods fought to try and contain the Great Old Ones and it was the source of their ultimate demise, would that not make them heroes then? For the Great Old Ones are a far more terrible force than the Elder Gods could ever be.

Even then however it's not evil, as the Great Old Ones care even less about humanity than the Elder Gods. We are not even worth notice for them, and yet their merest presence would be enough to eradicate mankind as we know it.

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

The Elder Gods cast out the Great Old Ones for using dark magic, hence, the Great Old Ones are Villains.

Simplistic I know, and doesn't delve deeply into the legends, but its not hard to see how the antagonists of the Cthuluhu mythos could be considered Villains.

"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."

Psh, you're talking about the blasphemous theories written by August Derleth. I do not believe those, there was never any relation between the Elder Gods and the Great Old Ones.

I choose to believe what Abdul Alhazred wrote and that the Great Old Ones are far vaster and greater than anything we could ever conceive. The Elder Gods, they tried and failed, just as someday it is inevitable that humanity shall try to pry into the thoughts and powers of those much greater than ourselves and perish in so doing.

Ia Ia Cthulhu fhtagn!

(Gotta admit I'm pleasantly surprised so many people even know the mythos here. Usually when it's brought up in a forum it's like I'm speaking another language!)

I liked Kefka as a villain too! However, I must say that Kratos > All.

He's a villain straight up, no redeeming heroic qualities and the game doesn't try to hide that. The game is about hate, murder, hate, murderous hate, hate, personal vengeance, hate. Well anyway, that's just my opinion.

John Cavil from Battlestar Galactica, pretty much the mastermind behind the attacks on mankind. Evil but funny as hell though.

Or is it that he makes you think that when in reality he is just like batman. He pulls at every string and manipulates people to make sure everything goes his way.

I would say Dr. Horrible, but by the end of the story I got the feeling that he wasn't really a villain, he just thought he was and by the time he realized it, it was too late.

Everything he wanted was everything he lost.

So, I'll go with the joker.

Soulblighter from Myth 2:Soulblighter. So evil, he's right there in the title.

Seriously though, this guy is up there with Diablo and Hitler.

*snip*
Quite literally, Luther was portrayed as the owner of a company which had created the entirety of the universe that is Star Ocean. After the "programs" were finding things that they weren't supposed to figure out, he figured he'd just wipe the memory and start from scratch, despite the fact that the "programs" were more along the lines of being true races in and of themselves. The kicker? He didn't care.

Meet Father Kotomine.

Marche troll aside, Kotomine is just plain awesome. But
Fate route? Come on, we all know that Heaven's Feel is where he achieves his true level of awesome. That and Zero I guess.
I know, but the Angra Mainyu picture was the most impressive CG of him I could find. He's much harder to distinguish here [http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3782/399ve.jpg], and most of the other Heaven's Feel shots are him being heroic.

But if we're talking about Type-Moon villains, then my favorite is
Nightmare Nanaya. Tatari Nanaya is cool, but he just doesn't carry the weight Nightmare Nanaya does.
Oh trust me, <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.139628>I know. His appearance was genuinely surprising, and actually unnerved me whenever I encountered him.

<url=http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/1083/kt12.jpg>Guess who unnerved me more?

I'll agree. Dr. Horrible was technically the hero of the story (being that the audience sympathizes with him rather than Hammer), even if he was striving to be a villain. Very much the classic "hero thinks they want one thing for duration of the story until the end" plot.

Though, I suppose he knew both things he wanted, but his plans simply backfired.

Yes, and then when he got one of the two things, he realized it wasn't as important as he thought. That it was just an empty shell. A lot of commentary on life can be drawn from the ending.

"And I wont feel...a thing."
