Best/worst in-game love story

WHY, oh WHY have no one mentioned Baldur's Gate II?!

That game had the most excellent Love story subplots in any game to date. And the game was just EPIC WIN overall as well.
Seriously, play it. Now.

Also Mass Effect had a pretty good love story, but that's mainly because I liked the characters. Also, Alien Space Babes are HAWT!

Also, do the Sims count? Since, I mean, they just sort of fall in love as long as you do one flirt action and have their relationship high enough.

haha lol i remember playing sims on my cousins ps2. i created this house with a couple guys in it and left them alone why i went to build the house..i came back they'd got married....

on a creepy and disturbing sims note, my friend has this exp pack kinda thing you download which pretty much turns sims in a porn simulator>< they run round naked having sex with whatever you tell them to wherever you tell them to...we thought she was so innocent to...

the worst i remember is uh that star wars game that was out a ages ago maybe 12 or so years...dammit i cant remember the name>< i just remembered watching my nan play it (i was like 8 or something..) and she went all through the game with the two characters no intertaction at all and then the last cut scene was just them getting of a ship and randomly making out...

The worst would have to be any in final fantasy I have only played a few of them but they are all terrible.

I was pretty disappointed that Mission Vao wasn't a Love interest. She was one of the characters I liked best.

Otherwise, I'd go for Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. I just liked how Snake carried on with his mission while most others wouldve fallen for EVA.

You beat me to it... Agreed on all points, except maybe that I don't like the Aerie (Yes, there is girl with a name like that in BG2 as well!) romance all that much. Jaheira, Viconia and even Anomen more than makes up for it though.

The romance in the Sly Cooper games is also kinda cute, even though it may be written for younger players. It still totally works. So sue me.

As for worst...as mentioned above, ANY so-called "romance" in Fable 2 qualifies. And the dating system in GTA IV and San Andreas are about as bad.
And the implied romance between Jak and Ashelin in Jak III was either ill-advised or plain WTF, depending on how you look at it...both were going steady with others in the previous game, and again with the same persons in Jak X. Not good continuity.

My best would be Wu the lotus blossom/silk fox,a sweet pairing.

I apologise for saying the obvious and/or sounding too similiar to Yahtzee but WHY!? It is possibly the most cliched relationship between two of the most wooden characters i've ever seen. My best would be the KotOR one with Bastila even if she is a bit annoying at times.

The best love story in any game is where you edit the script that checks the player's gender in KoTOR I, so that Carth romances male characters.

It's hillarious when he calls the 7ft tall square jawed apeman "a very special woman".

The worst is anything from FF. Seriously.

Guy I am for real. FF is fun to play but COME ONE. Worst love stotires ever written.

Ohhh I loved Snake and EVA's story. I love how she zips down her jumpsuit so you can see her breasts and tries to flirt with Snake but he's too busy with the pistol she gives him.
And Silent Hill 2's story is one of the best (it should. After all, 2 is the best of the Silent Hills in terms of story)
