We are not into annual franchises
If they had said they need one, two, three, even four more years to develop the game or something like that i would have understood. But this? Fallout 3 came out in 2008. If they would anounce a new one now it would probably be released next year. How is once every 6 years annual.

How the hell do guys making these kind of statements get such high positions in the industrie?

That is a shame, I would love to see a really big expansion like Shivering Isles. Really, Skyrim deserves a couple of major expansions like that.
Agreed about the Gamebryo engine, though. It was actually much better in Skyrim than it has been in their previous games, but even so, it's time to find a better engine.
I fear the days of "expansions" are far behind us, with only Blizzard still trying to cling to the idea. And failing pretty bad.

Hopefully with the multiplied amount of RAM in all gaming systems this generation, Bethesda can use an engine that is a little more immersive. No more stiff conversations where everyone is frozen in the background. No more crashing when autosaves (a game feature) happen. Combat that feels like you're hitting something. LESS LOADING SCREENS. Draw distance that when maxed out is actually impressive, and is not spawning rocks under your feet. Grass that looks less like paper. Towns that are actually towns and not 5 houses with 15 people in them (the imperial city, capital of the empire, has like 25 citizens).

And hopefully Bethesda starts hiring more than 4 voice actors.

Good. Give it at least another year. Maybe I'll have finished Skyrim by then and can give this my undivided attention.

A new project from Bethesda Game Studios wasn't in the cards at E3, and it may not come to light for a while yet.

I don't think he meant annual releases litteraly, but more poking fun at studios who do regurgitate the same nonsense year after year. I think they also announced two upcoming original IPs which is something I'm looking forward to. I think the longer they take to put this out the better. Everyone knows it is on it's way so who cares if they announced it or not. The sooner they announce it the harder the wait is for me.

stretch out the DLC while you're at it. take your time, we know it'll be worth it.

EDIT: woo-hoo 1300 (dunno why I decided to put that edit in)

Considering I haven't bought a game new in... (uh... uhm... when did Kotor 2 come out?)
I can wait however long it takes for them to make a nice new fallout game with less bugs than vegas at launch, and for it to get some DLC and go down in price. I will buy it eventually, but I can happily wait however long it takes.

Bethesda better be in the process of getting an engine that doesn't run like Mirelurk spunk for their next games. I'm fucking tired of the Gamebryo engine and it being awful.
Yea, if they're going to make a game that wont crash every 5 mins, they can take as long as they want.
I do want to see another fallout game but not if its going to be as big a mess as New Vegas.

Oh sure, Bethesda gets months of quiet while you ask Obsidian to get a game out in a year and a half. And even then Obsidian managed to make something a lot more interesting (to me, at least, Fallout 3 doesn't really 'get' where the series had being going from the start).

Let's hope they hire more then two QA testers this time.

Fallout 3 came out in 2008. Skyrim in 2011. That's 3 years, and we only heard about Skyrim when it was in its last year of development (not including rumors).

So it'd make sense to not expect any news on Fallout 4 or whatever they're working on for about six months at the earliest.

Oh thank God, I'm not the only one sick of this. I've got a good ear for voice actors too, so it's really annoying to hear one person do several characters.
Skyrim was a bit of an improvement, but not by much: "Hey, it's Jim Cummings! And so is that guy! And that guy! And... that guy... okay, this is getting weird now."

You'd think they could at least alter the voices in a program to make them different if getting more actors was really such a problem. If said altered voices sounds strange, just use them for the bosmer or other races that we expect to sound a bit alien. Though I really think that they have at least some leeway before any alterations become obvious and distracting.
