I'm actually not thrilled about this news, seems like it'll make dragon appearances less special and eventually they'll end up very meh.
It completely depends on how often it happens. Just because there's no limit to them, doesn't mean that they're going to show up every five minutes. I personally hope that there are different levels of dragons with different sizes. I don't want to be fighting essentially the same creature at level 50 as I was at level 10. The lower level ones need to be smaller and once you reach a really high level they should be city burners that only show up extremely rarely.

As long as there is plenty of variety, this is a good thing. One downside of Oblivion was missing out on over half the Oblivion gates once you beat the main quest. (Then again, those parts in Oblivion sucked serious ass.)

The song I will always play when fighting Dragons on this game:

LOL!!! THAT ISN'T CHRIS CORNELL!!! Gee... let me guess... he quit that band too. He's kind of an ass, but hey... that might mean that... could it be? A... SOUNDGARDEN REUNION?

No. Probably not.

So...how is the next Elder Scrolls game going to cope with not having dragons. It'd be like if Bioshock 2 didn't have Big Daddies.

Also, how are stealth-focused characters going to fight Dragons? I hope Bethesda has finally implemented good detection and tracking into their AI. Or made the dragons extremely vulnerable to stealth kills.

I'm gonna be honest, despite their attempts to avoid dragons as a cliche, they've chosen an incredibly boring creature design for them. Bethesda's creature design hasn't been stellar in the past, and these aren't bad, but there is so much you can do as far as designing dragons is concerned that this strikes me as a missed opportunity.

I don't really care about training and riding a dragon. I just want my levitation spell back. Oblivion was sorely lacking this spell and Morrowind had it. I still load Morrowind sometimes and just fly around exploring.

Weird...at one point, when i was reading the article ( about the "you can get your money by killing loads of dragons!" part), I suddenly imagined that all the Oblivion gates in TES IV turned to dragons, and killing them i get that weird orb.
But hopefully this will be more enjoyable than the visits through the Oblivion portals. I really didn't like that place.
Also, riding dragons? Hell yeah.

There sure as hell better be some variety in dragon types than, in D&D there are TONS of varietys including chromatic(Red, Blue, Green), metallic (Gold, Bronze, Copper), and so on, if all I get to fight are just the brown fire breathing types it's bound to get boring fast. Here's some samples of what I mean (In spoiler tags of course):

I love the sound of this game. Everything I hear is just gold. I'm only afraid of one thing which is, with a limitless amount of dragons could come an increasing amount of repetativeness. Fighting dragons in this game I'm guessing is going to be some of the most epic moments that you will have to deal with. I just hope they don't get very similar or have enough variation to have me want to run into them, instead of the opposite and having me getting annoyed at the site of the things.

@Jamaicob5

I don't know how you can make a connection between a Chris Cornell cover and dragons, but.. I'm happy for you boyo.

It would've been nicer if dragon fights were rare (then they'd feel a bit more epic), but I guess I can easily get used to this idea too.
I already know I'll be farming dragon shouts like no tomorrow.

Although it worries me a bit. I heard early on that dragons will fly down and attack towns, and if dragons spawn a lot and they therefore attack towns a lot, and seeing as buildings can be destroyed, we'll have a few problems.

In the past, dragons were too cliche to be included in TES games, but now, in the wake of Dragon Age, it's somehow become a good idea. Interesting.

I've posted it before, but I can't help thinking about this Penny Arcade strip [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/8/6/] whenever I hear Skyrim news...

On the topic of renewable dragons...

This poster kind of nailed it.

Make a career out of hunting dragons... Why am I currently picturing myself playing this game as Bowen from Dragonheart? Also they better get Sean Connery to do one of the dragon's voices then. Preferably the one who'll become your friend and will let you ride him.

I'm actually really relived to hear about the unending supply of dragons thing, I was worried I'd kill like 20 and then would never see anymore, Also the part about talking to dragons seems pretty interesting, I hate when game or books depict dragons as beast instead of intellectual creatures

Funny, I thought there was only supposed to be like 8 in the game. At least that's what I got told.

I'm going to sit on my hands and wait for Martigen's Monster Mod, with increased spawns. Someone will have to program flock movement dynamics.

Also, I can't shake the bad feeling that this whole dragons thing is going to turn into a massive case of goddamn Cliffracers, just larger and more fiery.

Was hoping that they would add this in. The game would probably get boring if there were only 20 something dragons to kill. Now they just need to make the battles absolutly epic.

Awesome. They should only be found in specific places though. It'd kinda suck if you see one every time you walk anywhere.
Yeah the completely random encounters doesnt sit too well. I picture myself doing some stupid, " Go talk to so and so across the street about blah blah" and getting attacked by a frikin dragon and all the NPCs dieing in the process. yay......

Yes! Thanks Bethesda, fantastic news, been saying we need an unlimited dragon supply since they were announced :)

PS
If dragon riding is in, my mind's gonna blow to pieces. I hope that if it is, we have to tame a dragon ourselves somehow for it, could make a pretty epic quest.
