It's been two years since Interplay was supposed to start work on the Fallout MMO.

Tell me, what was the last piece of news we had about the Fallout MMO that didn't have to do with lawsuits? Interplay has already bungled it's end of the contract.

Please just go away interplay, your time has gone now its Betheseda time, besides fallout 1 & 2 were rubbish compared to fallout 3 and NV (I know this is gonna earn me hatred but fanboys need to know the truth!) and i have NEVER thought while playing any fallout 'o you know what would make this game infinitely better, more people to take my loot and steal my kills!'

I love Bethesda and their games, but they just sound like dicks from this lawsuit. I would expect this kind of asinine bully behavior and ludicrous claims from Bobby Kotick and Activision, but not them.

In other words, while the game could be called Fallout Online, it could not legally contain any recognizable Fallout content from any of the previous games
That's like someone telling their friend that he could borrow the car and later yelling at him because it was never stated that he could drive it only "borrow" it.

I doubt Interplay still has it in them to release a quality game, Bethesda's right to try to choke (whatever's left of)them before they "spoil" the shot at a Fallout MMO.

Besides they had 4 years, that's 2011, i seriously doubt the game is anywhere near shipping state.

Indeed. Can't Zenimax Media just acquire Interplay like they did ID?...

No sense blaming Bethesda Game Studios for any of this kerfuffle, though.

And now for my 2 cents.
When this started Interplay had not had much in the way of a game set up. Before Fallout 3 Interplay had 2 I believe top down survival rpg type games to pull off of. Bethesda doesn't want them using THEIR character models or THEIR character names. Like Butch from Vault 101 or any of the random other names that were used in THEIR game. Its not saying hey you can't use this because its part of Fallout its more like hey you can't use this because this is what WE did before YOU were supposed to start what YOU are supposed to be doing.
But the Interplay system was always going to operate off the original Fallout canon as set out by Black Isle, not Bethesda's adaptation. This smacks an awful lot like Bethesda now recognises the amount of money that this MMO could make, they realise Interplay is in a financially dodgy position, and that Bethesda are happy to throw money and lawyers at a losing case to stall it in court until Interplay go bankrupt - at which point Bethesda will win by default. Which seems like kind of a dick move.

Damn, are these guys still going at it? You know what? I don't actually care. This doesn't affect Skyrim, and, therefore, doesn't affect me either. :p

nope, they had two years to start developing the game and four years after that to release it.

I think what's happening here is Bethesda suspecting the MMO will suck (which it propably will) and damage the Fallout reputation because people don't really care whose fault it was.

Interplay, just die. Just give up, admit you ballsed up, and go die. Or better yet, remake wasteland. Because isn't that the basis for Fallout to begin with anyway, judging from the easter eggs from Fallout 1? Just abandon this petty war between the people who revived the intrest in Fallout after you let it get killed. Because the only winner's in these types of court battles are your lawyer's, after they bleed you dry. Even the Goverment will lose out compared to the people you are paying to attempt to defend your right to a game which will take more then a handful of people to make, let alone release. And you still want to make an MMO when the Old republic is coming out?

Beth aren't any better here, but lets face it, they aren't in the red. They've got Skyrim to look forward to, whilst Interplay has nothing. Just some pictures and some half baked ideas. The real losers aren't the fanbase, it's the unfortunate sods still working for this company. The likelyhood they are going to get paid anytime soon is low, and they haven't got a future for as long as Interplay keeps up this pathethic fight. I hope the little people in interplay find a better future and that the foolish people who wanted to keep this fight going get punished.

My point exactly, there's no way Interplay has the ressources to make a good MMO, even with a "slam-dunk" IP like Fallout.

This PA is actually from 2004, when interplay got evicted because they couldn't pay rent and closed up by the gvt because they couldn't pay employees. They didn't have a website for 4 years (2004-2008) and the company was back in operation solely due to the Fallout IP saleto Bethesda.I'm sure things are going much better now....right ? right ?
