so the other day for some reason I was feeling nostalgic and decided to look up a certain song on youtube, I must have been around 12 or so when this came out, I didnt particually care for this song or pop in general when I was that age (I mean I clearly remember that popular song about "grillz"...for fuck sake)

anyway

[spoiler/][/spoiler]

I listend and realised "holy shit....I actually like this"

yes, I actually think this is a good pop song, its no guilty pleasure, I mean fuck when I comapre it to some of the worst from recent years (not going to say all current pop is awful because thats cliche) it looks like mozart in comparison

but anyway this isnt about this partiular song or why its good/bad or whatever (because I'm sure 99% of you hate it...thats cool)

this is more about [b/]stuff thats actually alot better when you watch/listen/read/play it sometime after[/b]

my other example would be the TV show Daria...alot funnyer as an adult when I'm able to understand the era and cultrual context..and the jokes

My main one is "Letters From Home" by John Montgomery. I always saw it as being a country song, with nothing special about it. But listening to it again a couple of weeks ago, I found it was much more than that.

Why? Because I had gone through bootcamp. Once you have actually been in that situation, where your only family contact is through letters, and that's all that lets you know what is going on at home, those letters are more valuable than your salary. Because of that connection, the song felt all the more powerful to me.

Oh don't worry, you're not the only one Vault. I didn't really like much that Gwen Stefani did on her own but, that song was pretty damn cool, not to mention the video.

In answer to your question I'm going to say...Rocko's Modern Life! That show was good as just a cartoon but as an adult...I swear there was a prison rape joke with cars in that show! I find it amazing how totally awesome that show was and how much went over my head when I was a stupid child.

Anyways, glad to see you're back Vault! And a little sad to hear that Mortai has been banned...again...this is the third time right?
