When did mediocre became a dirty word do you think? I mean, mediocre means average, alright, not horrible. Why does mediocre carry such negative connotations.

As with most problem, I think we can safely blame the internet for this one. I mean, the internet is basically like a compost machine that can turn the rankest cow shit into a fertile bed of manure for cultural growth. Think of how many shitty movies and songs have been memetized. Chocolate Rain, Rebecca Black, Rick Astly etc.

I think the ultimate sin now is simply to not be memorable.

Hey, I like Never Gona Give You Up! Its a fun little pop song that was memitised for its utter cheese factor, which is not the same as being shit.

Not much else to add, I think some people just prefer something to shoot for the skys and hit the ground rather then aim for mediocrity and hit.... mediocrity.
